To answer your question, yes, it is possible to get herpes from only having oral sex. Cold sores are a type of herpes (usually Hepes Simplex Virus Type 1 or HSV1 for short). If you have unprotected oral sex with someone who has a cold sore, HSV1 could be transmitted to you.

Now that you have had what you think is an outbreak, if it is herpes, you can be tested. A doctor should be able to diagnose you on spec to determine if you have herpes, and an STD test will determine what kind it is (HSV1 or HSV2 - the latter is usually the cause of genital herpes and the former is usually oral herpes, but they are interchangeable).

Have yourself tested for syphillis too. Most doctors worth their salt will do this as a matter of course, but in case yours forgets, have them do the bloodwork.

And above all, stay calm. The worst thing you can do for yourself is imagine the worst. Get a professional opinion and maybe hold off on the blow jobs until you hear more. When you know, talk to your doctor, talk to others and talk to your partners.
