Curious, Valtrex not working for you???

Question:
Well, this is the first time in my life I've ever turned to support forums or anything like that relating to Herpes. I've had cold sores since I can remember, I am 28 and got them from my grandmother as a baby.

Apparently in the early 80's nobody new better......Anyways, I've always gotten cold sore..Maybe 2 or 3 times a year in the past couple years...a little less when I was younger.

Since Feb. 4th of this year, I've had 2 bad colds, the first time, for about a week, and this last time...4 weeks (inlcuding now..still trying to recover) in the past 3 months, I've had an OB, none real bad except the one now and one other....but I've felt like I've had forming or about to bust out almost every week for the past 3 months.

Right now I have it on my lip, I noticed it forming last night, Yesterday took 2 grams of Valtrex about 6 and another gram at around midnight.

Woke up this morning, took half a gram before work. Seemed to be working until I got home, now I've taken another gram and half of Valtrex and I feel like its getting worse. It's almost like the valtrex is not helping at all, I mean with almost 5 - 6 grams in about a 24 hour time frame, the Cold sore should have grinded to a halt, but instead its still getting worse.

I've never had this problem before....I used to get it only when I was stressed...but now it is like my body is just going crazy. I don't know what to do.

I went and bought Vitamin C and Lysine Yesterday afternoon, and took 500mg today of Lysine, Vitaminc C, 500mg. I tried the lysine bit about 2 years ago, I felt like it worsened my cold sores so I stopped.

As a side note, I started a new job in December, Computer help desk, since Feb. We've installed some new software which has made my job not difficult, but very busy and non-stop during working hours. I know i've been stressed with my job, but for the past month it has lessened in the stress.......Anyways...Still getting it even with less stress at my job.

Could it be something in the Air?? Today I asked and did, move my desk, I was sitting under an air vent, now its about 3 feet behind me..I don't know....Any thoughts?

Answer:
i use plain white toothpaste not the gel type applied with a Q-tip. looks kinda funny but dries it up in 3 days and totally gone in 5. if you get it on when theres a tingle (i dont have that luxury) its supposed to get rid of it right away...
