how to stop the itching?????
Question: ok i have hsv-2 and i just got over one outbreak and am now having another one is there anything that can be done about the itching? a cream or something that i can take. feedback would be great. i'm going insane with all the itching!!! Answer: i find that a&d ointment, really helps with the itch. or vaseline, if you dont have any a&d Answer: what have you tried so far? I use the Aveeno active naturals bath powder and this helps with some of the itching I get the one for poison oak exposure, epsom salts help get rid of some of the pain and irritation. I also have found a spray from Monistat called "Soothing Care" it has pramoxine in it. (My dr told me not to use anything with cortisone during an ob) I like it because you can spritz it on directly or spray it on a cotton and blot the areas that are itching. Stings a little if the skin is broken but not overly painful and works quickly. Answer: the only thing i've used is cornstarch and it works for a little bit but not for long and thats not really something i can use while i'm at work Answer: my friend just told me how well the Domeboro powder worked on her shingles. It is an otc product for poison oak. she said that you mix it with water and apply it and it worked quickly. trying to help as much as I can. Answer: is that safe to put down there? Answer: I'm sorry I don't know for certain but if I find out I will post back. The spray I mentioned earlier is small enough to fit in a purse and it worked well for me. It was better than the vagisil anti-itch wipes. And much cheaper and non-steroid. Answer: well i went to the store they didn't have that spray was really hoping they did but i found some anti itch wipes that i'm going to give a try hopefully these relieve some of the itching Answer: I researched the Domeboro powder and it also comes in effervescent tablets too. I did see that it is okay to use in the bath but you have to calculate the amount of water to the powder. so it should be safe for the genital area as an external treatment. I see that you can also use it in smaller amounts and soak compresses in it to apply topically. It is supposed to dry up the blisters etc. and make the ob go away faster. I've also seen other posts on this forum recommending it. My comment on the wipes is that you may want to pat with it very carefully rather than wipe because they could potentially spread the virus to new areas. Darn it there is always something isn't there. You might check online to see if any of your local stores carry the Monistat products I found it in the section with stuff for yeast infections and feminine hygiene. My Target store carried it.
