Cannot Take Valtrex Or Any Type Of Hsv2 Pills
Question: Hello Everybody, As you know I have HSV2. I never had any symptoms of this until i went to the doctor and explained how it burned when I pee'd. She did every test in the book! Finally discovering it was nothing more then a bacterial vaginosis. It had nothing to do with the herpes...She prescribed me vatrex supressive therapy 500MGS a day. I took them for about 2 days and felt crazy...very agitated..felt as if i was on street drugs, and my vision changed...I had like tunnel vision...So i stopped taking them. I went back to the doc to get some different meds and he went on to tell me, that it might not be a good idea for me to take those because they are all made up of the same kinda of thing...Not exactly but he said they will probably give me the same side effects....So he gave me an ointment called....ZOVIRAX, (Acyclovir) ointment...each gram contains 50mgs of acyclovir...and ever since I stopped using valtrex ive had symptoms...I have never had blisters or bumps, MAYBE lil cuts and slight itching but thats it....NOW... I have painful blisters...it hurts when i walk.....or sit down etc. So i am desperate...i am considering taking valtrex to make um go away...or why is it i all of a sudden have symptoms... i have been on a 3 month long outbreak....everytime 1 blister goes away another one pops up somewhere else.....and one that one goes away etc. it hurts...each blister is getting more and more painful!!!! so what does anybody suggest I DO? Answer: Kayla, I'm sorry you can't take the medicine that would be helpful for your outbreaks...That's a big drag! I was wondering if you were doing much in the way of boosting your immune system...with suppliments, staying away from trigger foods, etc? From what I've been reading we must boost our white blood cell count for it to fight the replication factor of the virus. I hope you find something to calm the OB's you are having! Have you seen a naturapath doc, accupuncture, anything alternative? Take care and hope you get to feeling better! Answer: weird- your doctor said its bacterial vaginosis, and yet prescriped you 2 "herpes" meds. they should have given you a antibiotic, not a antiviral. you most likly had herpes in your system, and the introduction of the meds, when not needed-if it was truly bv. prob kick started the virus. ""Two different antibiotics are recommended as treatment for BV: metronidazole or clindamycin. Either can be used with non-pregnant or pregnant women, but the recommended dosages differ"" http://www.cdc.gov/std/BV/STDFact-Ba...sis.htm#WhatIs also- for other meds, try vitamins like, L-lysine, b12, zinc. Answer: It sounds like the antivirals were helping with the ob's but the side effects were the problem. You weren't by any chance using any medication to control Acid Reflux disease were you? I have read that they can make the side effects of Valtrex more severe. Another thought would be if they could prescribe a lower dosage antiviral if it would be less of a problem and still help control the ob's. The Zovirax cream is just the topical form of Acyclovir which can be taken orally and is slightly different than Valtrex. Have you tried the vitamin supplements?
