GF gets cold sores

Question:
I'm a 20 year old male and ive been kissing my gf who has cold sores but not while she's actually visibly had one.

My question is, ive been reading on google that 80-90% of adults have been exposed to oral herpes but only some show symptoms.

So, if its most likely that id been previously exposed to herpes, but never shown symptoms then is it likely that ill never get symptoms (since i cant be reinfected i suppose)

for example; she says her dad has oral herpes/cold sores, but her mum has never had a cold sore before.

Thanks

James

Answer:
it really depends on your body, and the virus.
you can say that you will never get a coldsore since your are "exposed" to it already and havent gotten anything, but your body might not agree in 2 years, or 20 years.
having herpes with symptoms, and without is still having herpes.

and you can get the other strain of the virus, so if you start kissing someone else, you might get that and actually have symptoms.

also, sometimes symptoms are so small there not noticeable to the naked eye, some people will tell you that they get a sharp pain, or a little itch, or a tingle. and that is their outbreak. you dont have to have blisters/sores to call it a outbreak.

Answer:
i'm considering breaking up with her because of it, is that unreasonable?

Answer:
how long have you been going out?

with your own research, the probablity that you will have someone exposed to herpes, as your next gf is pretty high, so why would you break up with someone you are already involved with... to get w/ someone who Might/Might not have herpes.
wouldnt you rather know, if they had it or not?

really its your decision, its your life, your health, but herpes wont kill you, and you already sound like your taking precautions against getting it. so if you have feelings for the girl why would you ruin that just so you could kiss someone that doesnt know if they have herpes.

Answer:
if my gf takes zovirax everyday will it stop her shedding or spreading the virus to me?
