I'm new here, pregnant, and very scared

Question:
hi there. i just found this website and i'm hoping it will help me cope with the worry of being pregnant and having genital herpes. i have had the disease for about 8 years and had a lot of OBs in the beginning, but less so as years have passed. i am now 11 weeks pregnant and currently having an outbreak. i have never been so anxious in my life as i am now. i am terrified the baby is being harmed despite what i read. my midwife tells me she sees this frequently and the babies are just fine because as long as they know, they watch for the symptoms and do c-sections if needed. but despite all the data, i worry and worry and blame myself. i feel guilty for getting pregnant and possibly hurting my unborn baby. i cry a lot and cannot enjoy my pregnancy because i am so scared. this is my first pregnancy. i'm married with a wonderfully supportive husband, but he is "burning out" from my worrying. please, how do i relax and trust that all will be well? i am wondering too if i should have a planned c section to be extra careful. please advise.

Answer:
your baby is completly fine until you give birth. in which case the choice is up to you, you can either have it vaginal, or c section. they should be testing you alot, especially toward your the day of delivery if you are having no active outbreaks, and the test are coming up good- its very possible you can have a vaginal delivery with out any complications to the baby.
but if you want to be very certain the baby will be safe c- section, the baby is completly safe then since they didnt come in contact with your genitals.

the baby now, is not in any direct contact with the virus they are safe in their little bubble. you just need to relax, your baby is fine.

Answer:
It is important right now to put the health of the baby in the hands of your doctors and to take care of yourself. This worrying is not healthy for either of you.

In the beginning of a pregnancy your hormones are going crazy and it can cause emotional highs and lows and probably the ob you are experiencing. Pregnancy can be a wonderful experience full of wonder and delight at the life growing inside you. Relax, breathe and let yourself enjoy this beautiful experience. Take your vitamins, get plenty of sleep, drink lots of fresh clean water, exercise everyday and don't forget to eat yummy healthy foods so that your baby will have the best start imaginable. There is no reason you can't pamper yourself and treat yourself like a princess.

The good thing is that you know you have hsv and you'll make sure your doctors never forget this and take every precaution so that your baby is born healthy and happy.

You really owe it to yourself to make the decision to let the doctors do their job and you take care of the things you have control over like being happy and healthy. There's no reason to worry yourself so much over this when you can be having a good time with this pregnancy and enjoying the wonder of it all.

Plus it will help your husband relax and the two of you can have wonderful bonding moments over each step of this journey.
