kissing spreading HSV2
Question: My doctor told me yesterday that I am NOT contagious to my husband through kissing, even during an outbreak. Is this true? and does this mean I would also be able to perform oral sex on him? (I was just diagnosed through skin biopsy of having type 2--am almost over my initial outbreak). Answer: I'm missing some of your details but I'll go with your obvious question. If you have genital herpes it is confined to the skin in your genital area and the lumbrosacral ganglia (portion of your nervous system.) If you are only kissing your husband and you have a genital ob it will not infect your husband - but if he performs oral sex on you and you have an active ob or the virus is shedding asymptomatically his mouth can become infected. If you have sexual intercourse he can become infected in his genitals. Currently if you do not have an oral infection you can perform oral sex on him with no risk if he does not have a genital infection. If he does it can spread to your mouth. Answer: shesssh doctors todays are clueless. if you have genital, do not have sex, and do not recieve oral sex.- kissing fine if you have oral, do not kiss, share drinks, and do not give oral sex.- sex fine you are extremly contagious during a outbreak. just a second of contact can cause the virus to transfer to someone else.
