I'm probably overreacting again....
Question: Hey Everyone, Im probably overreacting, but tonight, I gave my son a bath and was putting a fresh diaper on him. I noticed he had 1 little reddish/pink mark in the crease of his thigh. It wasnt raised, blistered, or open....just a little red mark that somewhat (in my mind) looks like a Herpes lesion. Like I said, it was just 1, and not a cluster. So, thats why I dont think its a rash...but what else could it be? I have been overly cautious about washing my hands, and using hand sanitizer, especially when I change him or pick him up from his crib in the morning. Hopefully someone can ease my mind with this one...Thanks! Answer: Has he had to take any antibiotics for any ear infections? babies are very susceptible to rashes either caused by heat, moisture and oftentimes yeast. the rashes usually show up on their bottoms or in their little skin folds. I'd keep him clean, of course, dry him carefully after the bath and either use some baby powder in the creases or you can use a little a & d or desitin ointment and hopefully this will take care of it. I don't know how old your little one is - is he eating solid foods yet or drinking any sugary juices? depending on your answers I may be able to offer suggestions. Answer: my young un has rashes and marks all over him untill he stopped wearing nappies (diapers) HSV gets into the body via cuts The virus enters your body through a break in your skin. It also enters through moist membranes found in your body, these include the vagina, urinary opening, cervix, anus and the penis. Answer: Try and leave his nappy off for a while,to get some air to the area. Babies suffer with all types of spots, rashes due to the area always being covered. I don't know if you have heard of sudocrem, but this cream is amazing for the nappy area. Answer: My son just turned 20 months old. He does drink juices everyday, and eats any and everything we eat. He has not been on any recent antibiotic, but has been a few months ago for pnuemonia from Daycare. Im sure its absolutely nothing...I was thinking maybe it was caused from heat. UKgirl, I have not heard of sudocream...is it something they only sell in the UK? Thanks everyone! Answer: sudocrem - used to smother my young un in the stuff... Answer: I actually called and made an appointment with my sons pediatrician for today, to ease my mind. I am a little embarrassed to tell his pedi why I am there though. I know I need to tell his pedi that I found out I have genital herpes, that is why I am concerened about his little red mark. Hopefully he wont judge the situation, and just give me the help im looking for and advice. Answer: Sudocrem is in a grey tub, with a white and red label. Best thing to do is go on the net and search, it might be called something else where you live. I would never use anything else. Good Luck Answer: It sounds like it could be yeast or thrush to me from the moisture and the sugar in his diet. The antibiotics could have effected candida production. Maybe you can give him some organic yogurt. My sister had this problem with her little ones. They knew the word chocolate at 14 months. Keep him clean and dry and it should help. Just tell the pediatrician that you found out that coldsores were herpes and you are concerned that it could be transmitted. Lots of parents have crazy questions and there is no need to disclose personal information unless you want to. In daycare situations kids come into contact with many individuals and you have a right to know what they can and can't get. It doesn't mean it is from you it is simply you asking about the mark and what it could be. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
