I know there is no cure for herpes. I am just looking for something to help heal lesions when they appear. Also, my doctor told me to take 2 500mg tablets of Valtrex for 3 days when i break out. Does anyone else take a different dose?

I got the Dynamiclear lately but it's too soon to report back. I've heard different dosages for different people with Valtrex. There are suppressive doses and doses for ob's.

I just switched to Famvir but for suppressive.

i was taking valtrex daily for supression as well. I tried to stop taking it over a period of a month and a half and i had 2 outbreaks. There was only 6 days that i wasnt breaking out so i am going back onto the meds. Its hasnt even been a year for me yet with how long i have had herpes so i am thinking i will use valtrex daily for supression until my body settle down a bit. I take 500 mg daily for supression then 1000 mg daily for an outbreak for 3 days. I was curious what everyone else was taking for doses because my mom gets coldsores and she takes one huge dose of valtrex. 200 mg in the morning and 200 mg at night and it stops her coldores before she gets one. her doctor told her valtrex is most effective this way.

I was prescribed 500mg twice daily for 5 day of Valtrex. It did absolutely nothing for me. I am still having an outbreak. Not sure if its the same one or I'm just getting new ones all the time. They seem to be kind of up there and I can't see whats going on.
I did the initial 5 days of treatment then gave it a rest for a week. Still no improvement. So this time I've decided to try taking the 500mg 3 times a day. Unfortunately still not better. I will next try taking 1000mg twice a day but I have to refill the rx.
I am going to call the doctor Monday & see if I can just get a rx for daily suppression doses so I don't have to keep paying the $20 co-pay for every 10 pills I get. Its getting expensive since this next refill will be the third. Thats $60 in less than 3 weeks. If I can get an rx for 30 or 90 of them then I can play around with the dosages and see what works for me.
Don't worry! I'm not gonna overdose. I'm a nurse so I know the max dose is 2000mg daily.
If I get this figured out I will post about what worked for me. If the Valtrex doesn't work I will try the others - famvir and zovirax. I can't imagine having to live with this constant pain forever. Worst case scenario I will hit up my regular doc for pain killers since I have herniated discs and she's always offering pain meds. I'm not a big pill-popping person so until now I've lived with the back pain.

I had a crisis and it threw me into a major ob and I made some bad choices trying to control the ob.

you know what helped in the end besides changing my antiviral. I used some drying agents one was the Domeboro and the other was plain old Calamine lotion. They are both very drying but worked quickly. For the Domeboro (it comes in a little box with 12 packets) I got a 16 oz bottled water and added 3 packets and made a compress out of a wash cloth and applied it for about 20 minutes. then I dried off with the hair dryer on cool and used cotton balls to apply the Calamine. The next day I felt much better.

what I did wrong was that I was in a hurry for stuff to heal and I put a cream on that had petroleum in it. don't do that until the blisters and welts are scabbing or going completely away. It made stuff get worse.

Does Dynamiclear work? If it does I'm supprised not to see so many people posting their wonder stories about it.

I've had this *&%^*% for 7 years. For about 2-3 years, I used suppressants, which I think weakened my immune response to the virus. I therefore stopped them totally, and at the beginning the outbreaks constant. As soon as skin was totally healed another one would come, messing my sexual life completely.

So I started yoga, and working on my immune system and it was getting better. Less occurences, etc...

Right now outbreaks are small but still too frequent for my comfort. I think my immune is slowly building up against the virus but my patience is running out. I need some effective treatment to knock this on the head and get on with life. If you know something, please tell me. Or if you used Dynamiclear, tell me how it worked for you. I just bought a pack, and I suspect it's a bit too good to be true. Well. Won't know unless I try.

I got the Dynamiclear last month when everything was going crazy. I still need some time to determine if it works for me. I tried too many things at once and can't be sure what helped and what made stuff worse. I ended up back at my dr's office this week and he insists my problem wasn't hsv. Probably started as that but ended up with a secondary infection.

It burns like crazy and keeps burning for about 20 minutes after application. Once you get through that burn everything feels pretty darned good.

Before you decide to use it do the test to see if you are allergic first by trying it on a spot on your inner arm and observing how you react. (I didn't do this and should have.) Because I didn't test first I'm not sure if I had an allergic response or not. This is my mistake.

When you are ready to try it pick one spot and try it there and see if it responds better than another. I know this is hard but how else can you compare to see the difference.

The spots I applied it to initially did heal up quickly and they were blue from the liquid. But I kept getting new ones until everything blurred together and then I couldn't tell the new from the old. This is why I need to try it again later.
