husband tested positive
Question: Ok, so I wanted to update everyone on our situation. Hubby and I have been together for 8 1/2 years now. Neither of us had engaged in sex with anyone for at least a year prior to that (longer for me). Anyway, all this time.....no symptoms for either of us. Then, 3 weeks ago, I get an ob of type 2 genital out of the blue (NEVER knew I had it). Anyway, hubby just tested positive, so we'll never know who gave it to whom, and we think that's kind of cool! No room to blame or feel guilty! He wouldn't have tested positive so soon after my ob, would he? I think it would be doubtful, especially because HE hasn't gotten an ob. Doc actually put a note on the diagnosis saying we can resume sex as we did before (ie, no condom) as long as there are no symptoms. Obviously, both our immune systems are successful in handling them. Hubby has NEVER had anything that he remembers. I'll keep you all posted. Answer: I am happy for you because this takes away a lot of the stress you were experiencing. It's a great sign that his immune system is pretty strong considering the cancer treatments too. No he wouldn't have tested positive this soon if he was newly infected so you both have had it for a while. And you're right why worry about where it came from because you both love each other and this isn't going to be any kind of deal breaker for either of you. I'm really proud of your attitude through all of this. It could have been so devastating but you both are handling this like a mature loving couple. You are a great example.
