I just found out that I have GH and I plan to have children in the future. I know that doctors and research states that in order to prevent passing Herpes onto infants to have a csection if you are having an OB, but my question is if GH is so contagious at what times is it most contagious and how will I be able to conceieve if it is so contagious (aren't you recommended to use condoms when having sex)? Please enlighten me. I really want kids one day. Oh, and my doctor is putting me on suppressive therapy, but unfortunately I won't be able to start the medication until next month because my insurance isn't valid for prescriptions until 8/1/2007 and it would have cost me $150.00 for 30 pills. So I decided to just wait.

well hopefully the man you want to have children with is loving, and accepts you for who you are, including herpes.
its a risk, but you can always have unprotected sex.
or you can get inseminated...

you can have the delivery normaly if your test results, are coming back acceptable to the doctors. but its just easier to have the c -section and not worry about giving it to your child.

its most contagious right before, during, and after a outbreak.

My boyfriend is very supportive and loving, so that is not the concern. I'm just worried about infecting him in order to get pregnant. Well, I guess I really shouldn't be concerned about that right now since I'm not trying to have kids anytime soon. I was just worried. thanks

I know how ya feel. My bf has been bugging me for over a year (even after we found out i have H) about having another baby. I started looking into things all over the net for info on how safe it is and talked to my dr. My bf does not have H, but he wants another baby so bad that he don't care. He always tells me it don't matter and if he gets it oh well. i hate the idea, that is why i called my dr. as soon as he decided he won't use condoms any more and got on meds. they are having me take valtrex to lessen the chance of him getting it and to keep my baby safe from it.

So is valtrex suppose to lessen the chances of spreading the disease, and I have been reading a lot of post were partners are taking drugs to prevent being infected with H. What drug is this?
