Hi,

Please help, im so scared. Its my first attack and its been going on for about a week now. I have been taking anti biotics for a 48 hours now and it seems to be getting worse. The pain has got so bad especially when i try to go to the toilet, its so unbearable i cant, ive tried having a bath and this dosnt really help!

Im also really scared as the blisters seem to be weeping out blood. When i wipe down there blood just comes out. whats going on please helpxxxxx

I just looked and i dont think it is anti biotics. its called aciclovir. Shouldnt this have worked by now.

relax - first take a breath and just relax for a few seconds.
i know it hurts, and i know it seems like its going to last forever but it wont.
now, no- your not taking anti biotics, your taking a antiviral, aciclovir- is a herpes meds so your on the right track- it takes a few days to kick in especially if its a rather bad outbreak which it sounds like. so in the mean time, take some vitamins, and pain meds to help you out.

now bathroom- i completly understand what you are going through, i refused to eat or drink for a week because it just hurt to much- everytime i went to the bathroom i ended up on the floor crying. but i swear, peeing in a warm bath is alot better, the very intense sting you get from the urine going across the sores lesses alot. the first time i did this, it was only a little bit of a improvement, but you have to figure it out- i had to sit like 1 leg streched out, the other in a triangle, to help open the area....... you can also use your hand if needed, but the amount of water will completly over take the acid in the urine so it doesnt hurt as much, to none.~~~ as for taking a crap- you just gotta man through it.

this will end, but it can take a few weeks, but it will get better.

Acyclovir (brand name is Zovirax) is an antiviral. It worked for me very well, but only at very high dosages until my immunity built up over the years. You may not be on a high enough dose. It didn't help me in the beginning at 200 or 400 mg /day. If you are sure nothing else is going on I think you and your doctor should re-evaluate the dosage if you aren't having side effects from the meds.

Oh--and when the meds work for me, I feel the effect DEFINITELY within 36 hours----it's not like you have to wait days and days. You can tell they are working.

And maybe ask your doctor for some xylocaine gel or something to apply topically for the pain to at least try to alleviate some of it. Xylocaine will sort of numb it out.

i peed in the shower too cause of the pain... i have one of those nozzles you can pick up and aim, and aim there i did. it really was the only way to eliminate without screaming loud enough to wake the dead.

i also used some dermoplast pain relieving spray and it helped a little.

my sores weeped out blood, too, so i think that is normal.

hope you feel better soon. my initial outbreak was pretty much hell so i know what you are going thru.
