Hsv-1 On Hand

Question:
I just recently got diagnosed with HSV-1 and I had an outbreak on my hand.

My question is, is it possible to transfer this virus through sexual intercourse with my g/f? We have never used condoms and I don't want to start now unless she can receive the virus through unprotected sex.

I know I can transmit it by touching her with my hand during an outbreak but my concern is if it's possible in any other way then touching her with the infected area.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:
with a little hope your hand will heal and never outbreak again but shedding is possible unfortunately but not likely.

That has been one of my fears that I would get it on my fingers, fingering my girlfriend who has hsv2. I already risking oral infection of hsv2. Let me know how it goes though after the virus heals on your hand. How do you think you got it anyway?

Also no unless you have it somewhere else thats shedding you didn't know about. hsv1 could spread by kissing her if you have it orally as well as on your hand.

Answer:
Thanks for the response. I shake hands with a lot of emplyees at work. So I'm assuming that's how I got it.

I have no signs of any other outbreak on my body or my mouth. The only problem is that the blisters are on the inside of my palm so I'm always touching my face, and my girlfriend... Not to mention shaking hands with employees at work all the time.

Is it only contagious when the blisters are visable? Right now they're gone but I have a huge red scar like tissue around the area because like an idiot i was picking at it when i first noticed it because I just thought it was some kind of infection.
