Question:
I just found out that I had herpes, but the doctor said I only had genital herpes. Well today I have a blister on my lip and i was wonder if that was herpes too? I kissed my son goodbye today but i didn'thave the blister? Is he at risk whenever I kiss him when Im not broken out? I know I can't kiss him when im broke out but i am afraid that he is going to catch it. Any answers would be helpful!!

I just found out that I had herpes, but the doctor said I only had genital herpes I'm suprised the DR would say that you ONLY had genital herpes... I'm no expert but I don't think you can really make that claim.

Anyway...

I would only worry about it when you have an outbreak....

That's more of a personal opinion then a scientific statement...

I just don't think its practical to worry about the very slight risk of shedding from HSV1 so much that you never give your son a kiss...

I'm sure that noone can say its IMPOSSIBLE to pass HSV1 thru shedding...
But I think its not enough of a risk to cause you to not ever kiss your son...
