My fiancee and I were planning to begin trying to have a baby when I was diagnosed. So far he isn't testing positive but he says since we're spending the rest of our lives together it doesn't matter if he gets it or not. So that isn't an issue with us about stopping the condoms to try and get pregnant but is it safe? Can I give this to my baby if I get pregnant and if so how likely is it?

The only risk of the baby getting herpes is at the time of delivery, if you deliver vaginally and there are lesions at the time of delivery. During pregnancy the baby is protected by the amniotic sac and membranes, if you do have lesions at the time of delivery a c section will be done. :D

is it safe? Can I give this to my baby if I get pregnant and if so how likely is it? Yup. It is safe for you to get pregnant. Because your herpes infection is established prior to conceiving, your chances of passing on the infection is very very small. The greatest risk is to mothers who contract herpes during the last 2-3 months of their pregnancy.

There are things you can do to minimize the risk. Make sure your ob/gyn, midwife, or MFM knows you has herpes and is well-informed. Unfortunately, some aren't well versed in herpes. Physically point to the areas where you get outbreaks, so they will know where to look when it comes time to deliver. Talk to your physician about suppressive therapy during pregnancy, most are okay with any antiviral starting at 36wks. Decline internal fetal monitors during delivery unless there is a very compelling reason to do so. And talk to your physician about the risk of transmission when the membranes are ruputured for greater than 6 hrs. This increases the risk, but if other precautions are taken, then it's not a big issue.
