Bandaid over blisters? Popping blisters?

Question:
How's it going? I'm new to the forums I haven't been diagnosed yet but I'm pretty 100 percent sure I have it. I was wondering I know it's bad to burst the blisters cause the liquid helps spread the blisters.

What if I were to cover them with a bandaid then pop them so it doesnt leak? Wouldn't that help them scab over and heal quicker? Mine don't hurt or anything but at random times they're itchy. I've had 3 out breaks in the last 6 months

Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

It is better to leave any blisters be and allow the sores to aerate as they will heal faster, rather than covering them (some coverings also tend to 'stick' to the wound if you are not careful).

If you pop the blisters you run the risk of both spreading the virus and irritating your skin.

One approach is to bathe the blisters in very warm water (the best way to do this is either have a very warm bath or use a wash cloth soaked in warm water). The water must be very warm, not so hot that it will burn your skin but hot enough for there to be a little bit of steam.

By bathing the blisters you can help to soften them and this can help the blister to burst naturally.

Applying Aloe vera gel can be soothing for any itching and, if applied once the sore has begun to heal, may help to speed things up.

Hope this helps ;)

Thanks a lot, I read another post on here that covering them helped so they didn't spread and you ran less risk of picking at them and making them spread more? Right now in my out break it's in a very very small area it's not on my penis but on like where the skin for the shaft begins so i was covering it.

so that's not good?

Answer:
A bandaid is a good idea if you put the prescribed cream on first.

Is there something preventing you from going to see a dr.?
I suggest you go see a dr to get a correct diagnosis in order to treat accurately. It's worth the time to go, especially for prescription.
