Genital HSV 2+, can I transmit to my mouth?
Question: I know this question has been answered at some point, but I can't find an answer to my particular question, so any advice would be helpful.... I'm not in a relationship, but have 2 current partners (an old partner of about 9 years and a new partner of about a month). I recently acquired genital HSV 2 (about a month ago, and dr. did type it as HSV 2), and I'm kinda betting it was the new partner who gave it to me. Assuming I got it from my 'new' partner, I must've given it to my 'old' partner since we came down with symptoms (sores) and got diagnosed around the same time, both of us positive for HSV 2 (unsure of what type new partner has - he's never had any genital outbreaks or was aware that he even had herpes, but rarely has experienced a very brief cold sore). Last night I had unprotected sex, and received AND performed oral on the new partner (the one who gave it to me). My question is, could I have possibly transmitted HSV 2 to my mouth? Or is it a thing that once it's in your system, it's in there? When and how will I know if I have HSV 2 orally? Is it like getting herpes all over again w/ an outbreak? Or will nothing much happen because I've already acquired it genitally from this person? Sorry if I've confused anyone, feel free to ask for clarification if needed. Thanks in advance for your time and advice! Answer: This link should answer some of your questions. Just because you have an infection in your body does not preclude you from getting new infections in new places if you are exposed. You can reinfect yourself and you can acquire and transmit new infections between your partners. Oral infections can be spread to the genitals and genital infections can be spread to the mouth. If you are infected with HSV you can even be infected with multiple strains of hsv and you are more susceptible to infections of HIV and AIDS. Answer: Thanks Caliope! I'm just down to the one (old) partner now...."and we want to keep it that way" -Valtrex commercial (LOL) Answer: This link should answer some of your questions. I'm curious?....Is a person with HSV more susceptible to HIV and AIDS Because they could have an opening in the skin from the HSV? I need some facts on this please?
