Hi all, this is my first post here..I know I have HSV 2 because of the terrible outbreak I had after a sexual encounter with my new boyfriend. Im feeling very low and down..Been to the doctor who prescribed me antibiotics and topical cream.
Its been a week and the outbreak is less painful now but the open wounds/sores are still there..How long would it take for them to heal( sores to be non-visible)? I hate seeing them and I cry every night because of this. Does anyone know what I can do, apply to make the sores heal faster? I have been putting topical cream..hoping it will speed up the process.

for starters just because it is genital herpes doesn't mean it is hsv 2 unless you have had testing that confirms it is this strand. It could be hsv 1.

I can understand your dr prescribing antibiotics for a secondary infection but hsv is a virus and antibiotics will not effect it one way or another. Did your dr prescribe antiviral medication?

If the cream that was prescribed for you contains hydrocortisone or petroleum it can make stuff worse. I am hoping it is something like Zovirax which is specifically for viral ob's.

I have found that baths with epsom salts and Aveeno oatmeal powders help alot. I also found recently that when the sores are new and still wet or blistered that Calamine lotion helped to dry them and ease the itching a little.

It can take a while for the sores to heal but this depends on each person individually.
