need advice on positive hsv1 girlfriend

Question:
Hi, a new girlfriend and I tested stds, she is hsv1 positive and I am not. She told me she had a cold sore about two years ago, and had another this spring, and they are are rare for her. Unfortunately, I think about the possibility of getting hsv1 more often than she knows, and I'm concerned that continual anxiety over this is not good for me, or us. I enjoy our sex life, but worry afterwards. Any opinions for hsv positive or negative are welcome.

Answer:
To be honest i'm new to this, and my common sense would tell me that u are running a high risk of getting it. If she has an outbreak then there is a good chance you will get it. You now have to ask yourself is it worth it? If it is then go for it. Is she on any meds?

Answer:
Just because someone has a coldsore (oral infection of hsv) does not make them a risk sexually unless you are engaging in oral sex.

Answer:
well actually just kissing someone with hsv1 is risky if you dont want to get it orally. An it can be transmitted WITHOUT a coldsore present to your mouth or your genitals if you have oral sex. It is a real risk and its your choice to decide if its worth it or not.
