First Outbreak....
Question: I’m going through my first outbreak, I’ve been taking 500 mg of famvir since the 2nd my doctor told me to take 3 of them a day for a week, I’ve have taking about 2-3 1000 mg of lysine daily drinking a lot of milk and taking epsom salt baths about twice a day, how long did your guys first outbreak last for? Is there anything that I can do to help my outbreak go away faster... I have trouble sleeping I just want to scratch and I sometimes do without realizing I do until I awake doing it. And during the day I have trouble. Is there any recommendations? Answer: Been there done that, yes, with the scratching and waking up not realizing till you already did it... sighs. It's tough the first time. Was for me. I had horrible flu like symptoms and the infection was severe since I also had another infection along with the herpes. I never took famvir so am not familiar. I took 1500 mg of Valtrex daily for two weeks, then tapered off. Just keep doing what you doctor says and try not to scratch... I know how hard it is NOT too... but ask your doc for some zovirax cream for itching. You don't want to end up spreading the hsv2 further than where it started from, if you can help it. Again, I must say, this was the toughest part, other than the pain and horrid headaches I felt. What I use for the blisters to help heal faster is taking Ester-C vitamin supplements, zinc and using hydrogen peroxide on the blisters. It really dries them up quick! Mine healed over in two days, and the redness was gone after one week or so. Also, to aid sleep try chamomile tea or some other calming herb like Valerian or a sleep aid made of herbs instead of the chemical type. Alluna is a good brand to try. Take care!
