First outbreak gets worse after meds?

Question:
my first signs of an out break i would say has been about 3 weeks ago, i have been taking 500 mg 3 times daily famvir for about a week, after i started taking the medication it seems like my outbreaks have been getting worse does that sound like it would be right, i mean it is my first ob and i haven't expreciend one fully so i don't really know how it should be, before i had a few bumps, know it seems that my bumps have doubled. but how long do you think it will get worse for or when will it start to lessen ? Is it also normal to have outbreaks on your hand, i have itching every where and my face, hands, and even my top lips are tingling. Does anyone recommend anything for the hands or something that will stop or lessen the itching.

Answer:
I'm sorry that you're experiencing these post initial OB symptoms. I too am starting to wonder about the aftermath of the beginning of an OB. My invisible signs started almost two weeks ago but my visible battle started last Monday and this past weekend, I thought the OB was almost over (as I wasn't feeling the pain during urination) but I'm feeling like it's starting up again or something today like I'm experiencing the feelings of right before my visible signs showed last Monday. It's strange. As many have said, this virus is unpredictable and random. As far as the tingling, I'm too experiencing that in my legs. It comes and goes. I think I'm tingling in my lips sometimes but it could just be paranoia b/c I haven't seen any sign of oral herpes. Try some Ibuprofen, Tylenol or Benadryl. I've heard those help. Good luck.

Answer:
I too feel like my symptoms have gotten worse since I've started medication (Valtrex).
I've been trying to eat well.. but I feel like I'm getting worse. I think I see an "ulcer-like" formation down there.
Ugh. This is so effin frustrating.

I drink freshly made fruit (apple and pear) and veggie (carrot, celery and sometimes cucumber) juice every morning, I just started eating watermelon, fresh salad with apple vinegar and garlic, and some meats (usually lean beef or chicken breast).
I take vitamins (b,c,e) , ginseng and garlic supplements, and drink lots of water with lime.
I just don't know what else to do..

Is there anything that I can apply to the "ulcer" that won't irritate or make it worse????

For that ulcer I'd try hydrogen peroxide, if you don't mind a little stinging, It'll help heal and dry up the ulcer faster. OR try using teal tree oil in a water based astringent form, not the oil itself, as this may be too strong for sensitive areas. It is very healing and milder than the peroxide. Perhaps also some calamine lotion with anti itch formula could also sooth the ulcers and dry them up. Don't use any of these internally, only externally on visible skin areas. You ought to ask your ob/gyn doctor what to use for internal vaginal ulcers/lesions.

It does sound like you're on the right track, though. Keep it up! ;)

Good luck!
