Anyone get tired of it?
Question: I dont know about everyone else but I am sure getting tired of the constant outbreaks. Its funny I have only had this for about 8 months and the first 5 months i hardly had any outbreaks and they werent severe. I have been on valtrex for daily supression since i was diagnosed. After about 5 months of having it i decided to get off the valtrex and just take it for outbreaks. The first 2 weeks were great. Then Bam. Outbreak city for a month straight. I was not a happy camper. Guess i have a pretty strong strain which drives me crazy because the loser who gave it to me has never had a breakout. Anyways i gave up my battle and started taking valtrex daily again and have been doing so for about a month but i am finding my outbreaks are frequent and pretty severe. Makes me wish herpes was a person who I could get into the ring with and just beat the crap out of it. Anyways i take vitamins daily. lysine, vitamin e, multi-vit, vitamin c. Any sugegstions from anyone on how i can kick this virus in the butt? Answer: By stopping the valtrex your body needs then to start producing its own antibodies!! as the valtrex takes over from the immune system to fight the HSV. try giving it a few more months before giving up and going back on the valtrex. antibodies can take up to 6 months to get fully in production and winning the battle. Answer: darn i just started taking the valtrex again. I have heard it takes about a year for your body to get "used" to the virus. Wouldnt it be best to take valtrex for a year and then take it only for outbreaks? for me when i break out i get bad flu like symptoms so if i am breaking out for a month i am not feeling that great. Answer: lol darn - sorry that term always makes me laugh!! yeah hence the reason i never bothered with suprresive therapy - cus i believe my body can do a better job givin time to adapt!! dont get me wrong - i treid taking acclovoir or however you spell it but taking pills each day aint for me at all. in my first year i was getting monthly outbreaks.. i hardly get any at all now - with no meds or vitamins or watching my diet or anything.. Answer: I'm really really tired of it. I'm now on my 5th outbreak since gettign diagnosed April 2007. I've barely led a normal life since then. I can't afford to go on suppressive therapy because Valtrex is so expensive here in the Philippines. Answer: Luxxe, I, too, was diagnosed in April 2007. I am currently on my 2nd ob (that I know of), however, I have not been "right" since April. I have had prodome systems, almost non stop since April; some days/weeks, worse than others. It took a solid 3 months for me to not be in continuous pain/discomfort. My doctor only recommended suppressive therapy I was to have many OBs in a year; like 6 or more. Soooo, I use the daily regime: lysine (although I forgot today, of all days to take it before I left for work); C with bioflavonoids, B Complex, Zinc, Olive Leaf, Alkamax, Green Tea, and Barley Grass. From what I have been reading on this forum, it could take our bodies up to a year to, shall I say, "stabilize"????? UGH Answer: yeah it not really fun always breaking out. I wouldnt mind so much if i broke out monthly because then i would have a couple of weeks in between each outbreak. breaking out for a month straight and and feeling like you have the flue isnt fun. But on the other hand valtrex isnt working as well as it was before. But when you take Valtrex your bodies immune system is still working perfectly, the valtrex dosent inhibit that so my body wont take over for the valtrex because it is already working. Answer: ouch smiling:( I can relate... the virus and I don't get along well either. For me, as soon as one OB started to get better the next one would start, and I had constant prodromal symptoms as well. After a while of that, I started suppressive therapy and so far it's working great. Are you under a lot of stress? There are some things we can't change but maybe there is something... Getting enough sleep? If you have other anxiety & personal issues that could contribute. You can try experimenting with some of the alternative treatments. The other thing you can do is talk to your doctor about your valtrex dosage. For people who get more than 10 OBs a year (and every week certainly qualifies as that), sometimes 1g daily is prescribed (as opposed to 500mg). Hopefully you will recover from OB hell. I know I was going crazy until I started to get some relief. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
