Question:
I've been seeing a guy for about a month or so now. I told him fairly early on that I had hsv-1. He didn't run, but he also isn't ready to have intercourse yet. I really want to be patient, because I really like him, but I just don't know what to do. The other guys I've told about it have had no problem with it whatsoever. I told him to do whatever research he wanted to do and that we'd chat again about any of his questions. As we all know, when you first find out its pretty overwhelming. So the extent of how far he made it was to the stinkin' Valtrex site, where of course they tell you the absolute worst so they can sell you more medicine. I don't want to nag him, but sometimes I get the feeling he's never going to want to have intercourse! Any suggestions at all would be wonderful - even just some moral support :smile:

sure hes scared he has the right to be, but he doesnt realize how its affecting you. and by doing that, yea it does make him that bad person.

also he just might not be ready yet since its only been a month, have you guys done anything??

If you really like him and care about him, it's worth your time to be patient and nurture your friendship. If you continue to spend time together and have fun, doing things together without thinking about sex, your relationship will develope naturally. You'll either have a really wonderful friend, Or you'll have a really wonderful friend who is also your lover.

Truthfully, I think he's worth it. Sometimes its just frustrating. The positive side to all of this is that we are definitely approaching things as more of a relationship than just convenient sex. It's a new thing for me ;) Thanks for the replies - I appreciate the support.

I wouldn't have any sexual contact with him until HE'S been tested (and ME if I'd been intimate with anyone since I was last tested).

He might have HSV, type 1 or type 2, or both.

He might have HIV.

Do you know if he's been tested?
