how can i live my everyday life?
Question: i usually workout 6 days a week but ever since my first outbreak just 3 days ago, i dont see how i can continue my exercise. i've already lost my appetite, not sure if it's from meds or just my recent depression, but there are so many questions i have...like what to eat and what not to eat? when my outbreak passes, will i feel normal at all before my next outbreak? or will there always be a little burning every time i pee or will there always be bumps? Answer: Don't panic. Your life should resume pretty normally once you get around this initial period. I work out often, too, and I have to admit, for the first couple of months it was rough trying to keep up any kind of schedule because I had 3 ob's in a row. I don't work out if I don't feel well, so I skipped the gym a lot. Since then, the ob's have really subsided, and I'm back to my normal schedule, so all is well. Between ob's you should feel pretty normal. The bumps will go away, and it won't burn when you pee (don't you just HATE that?). It's not uncommon to occassionally experience prodomal symptoms for a day ot two but not actually get an ob... no bumps or sores. During this time, the virus may be active, but not strong enough to materialize into a full blown ob. I get that once in a while, but not often. You can do a lot to help your immune system fight the virus by taking something to help strengthen it, like Lysine. Personally, I take Neem leaf capsules (2 per day), which is toxic to certain viruses and bacteria (among them herpes) and a multivitamin, which works really well for me. Since I've been taking Neem, I haven't had any ob's, except once when I quit taking it for a few weeks. I'm back on it now, and everything is fine. No symptoms. It's an individual thing, though. What works for one may not work for someone else. You have to find what works for you. You may have more than one ob at first, or you may just have the one and never be bothered again. It's different for everyone, depending on how efficiently your immune system is able to produce antibodies to fight the virus. Just staying generally healthy by eating right, getting enough rest, and exercising will go a long way in helping keep the little buggers in check. A positive attitude will do wonders, too, so try not to let it get you down. Life goes on, you know, in spite of these little speedbumps fate throws at us. And once you get through this horrible adjustment period, which everyone goes through, you'll start to see some light. Promise. Answer: I've spent 4 years fighting herpes pretty much on a daily basis. However, I've finally found that the following helped me more than anything else and today I am amazingly outbreak free (for me that is): 1) A reduced acid diet + TUMS/Rolaids/Tagamet HB 2) Liquid Licorice Root applied topically during prodomal and nightly if desired 3) Tea Tree Oil during an outbreak to sooth it & Aloe Vera I haven't had an outbreak in probably 1 month and that is without any Valtrex, Famvir, etc. If I start to feel an outbreak coming on (lower back pain, prodomal itch, etc.) I'll pop a few TUMS, rub on some Licorice Root and BAM - it's gone. I've starting taking lysine capsules, but I have a hard time stomaching vitamin supplements. Answer: smiles1513, The motivation will come back stronger than ever. As all the experienced members say, this is an adjustment period. I actually work out longer and harder now that I have herpes to stay healthy. Keep going and keep learning. Try many options as well to see what works for you. Answer: Hey there bluefrog ;) I believe the tums would be to calm down an acidic system. It's better all the way around to try not to let your system get too acidic in the first place. ps...good to see you back! Answer: Hey Shayna, Thanks! Soooo, I can take tums rather than spend $26.00 on Alkamax, which balances acidity??? Hmmmmm, thanks for that information! Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
