Aftershocks? Wierd...

Question:
Ok, so made it through my first ob and survived (though the first few days I was wishing I would die because it hurt so bad). I'm past all that, through with my course of Valtrex and now taking vitamins, L-Lysine (1000 mg a day), probiotics to combat the mega doses of antibiotics they hit me with in the course of trying to figure out what was really wrong. Yadda yadda...

My question is, now that I'm over it, I keep having these weird little zingy not so great electric sensations in my (pardon my openness here) clit region and some kind of uncomfortable pressure-like feeling all around the area where I had the ob. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I be gearing up for another outbreak? Or is this just everything settling back into it's normal everyday? My tail bone finally stopped feeling like someone kicked me in the ass with an extra-heavy pair of size 16's (that sucked). And I don't have anymore itching or ouching for the most part. Just a little achy here and there soooo... anyone have this experience before? This is... apart from sucking huge... the most bizarre thing I have ever dealt with by far. It would almost be funny were it not so ouchy...:roll:

Answer:
I think what you are describing is pretty normal, especially in the beginning. It can take some time for your system to settle down and for your "netheregions" to feel normal again. Also, nerve endings can be overly sensitive for awhile, and the fact that most people are hyper-aware of what is going on down there makes most sensations heightened. So, yeah, I think what you feel is not at all unusual and to be expected for a little while. Good luck!

Answer:
my first OB lasted 5 day, and this was two weeks ago.

I still get itchy feelings, even though there is no OB.

It sounds pretty normal...I'm lucky its just on my ass and not my vagina...

Answer:
I had it on both, and they were equally miserable. Thank God that's over, and I hope it's the LAST time I"ll ever get anything quite that bad again. My doc said that as bad as my ob was, I'm likely never to suffer one that bad again. Having read enough posts here to know better, I'm feeling a little doubtful, although still hopeful, that this is the case.

In any event, the "aftershocks" (for lack of a better term) seem to be decreasing in severity (the tailbone thing was the worst)... now I'm just freaking out about every little thing on my face that may or may not be a new ob... feeling a LOT more optimistic though. Hard to believe what a toll this takes on your psychological well being!!

Answer:
I like the term aftershocks. It happened to me too for my first OB. After everything was healed up a little vagisil helped me a lot. I just had my second OB which was really mild with no blisters, just one little cut thing. I am getting a few little zingers too last night and today. I'm a little freaked out that it's coming right back but hopefully not!!! I remember the area being tingly for a couple of weeks after my first OB though, that one was HELL!

Answer:
Hi there... sorry to hear about your troubles

i had a really severe primary outbreak down there in april and they do say those are your worst, then i had an outbreak a few months later in june and that was my primary outbreak for my mouth and that was really bad too... i'm currently experiencing an outbreak on my lips again and it is knocking me on my butt! although nothing like my primary ob

here are some things i've learned/experienced and they are not meant to discourage but to inform...

my whole body hurts during outbreaks and i am basically useless

i have a lower pain tolerance it seems now and it takes a lot less to make me sick/tired/sore... this is not even outbreak-wise but normal day to day issues, my immune system has worsened and my overall health has decreased

also after sex i experienced a swelling of my down there area it is very tender and i had that same pressure feeling... that is subsiding but still occurs occasionally and that sensation does not lead to an outbreak for me

if you are on the valtrex (i am on the generic version) it should stop outbreaks or at least really decrease them, i think mine is due to stress and laziness in taking my meds

i'm sorry for the rambling and i hope this helps you... basically you are through the very worst part, although the psychological effect has yet to wear off on me and i just passed my 6 month mark from diagnosis... it's very hard, but it does get better. good luck and i'm always here just to listen or to ramble more about my experiences.

Answer:
i've had type 2 for 5 yrs now. My primary was bad too...i remember it like it was yesterday...my lymph nodes near my groin were sooo sore. I had it on my buttocks and in my vaginal area. Worse, i didn't know what it was on my buttocks and was rubbing my booty so hard, i still have slight pigmentation spots on where they used to be. Neway 5 yrs later, I don't used valtrex (prefer aclyvoir) I still get tingly sensations every now and then (around menstrual sometimes or when ovulating) and my outbreaks on my buttocks don't come in nemore. My outbreaks are MUCH less severe (they last like 3 days). They used to come like everyother month (that was the worse for like 1yr). Stress will definitley bring the zingy's though. Like, when i'm running around too much or i pull something in my back, i feel sensations if i'm sore the next 2 days. But it WILL get better for you. Your body will build up antibodies. Your immune system is just in shock now and is fighting like crazy against the infection.

Answer:
is the generic version of valtrex cheaper? where do u get it?
thanks, bluesky

Answer:
yes the generic is cheaper, i pay $10 a month with my insurance coverage... it is called a acyclovir and I believe you an just ask for it instead of valtrex when you get your prescription filled
