HSV-1 recurrences
Question: I am fairly sure I have HSV1, I hope to find out when I visit the doctor next week because I had a blood test. I had a previous blood test but they didn't know if it was type 1 or 2. The girl I was with says she was type 1. She only had one really bad OB when she first got this and never had another. I have only had one little bump, that's it. I feel so bad for those of you who are really suffering with OBs, that must be tough. My question is, is it really the case that with type 1 I probably will never have an outbreak? Is there a chance that, since I had no major OB yet, I still will have one? Does anyone on this post know much about Genital HSV-1? I feel so alone and scared...I really want to be in a relationship in the future and this makes it seem so hard to imagine. I feel like just the mention of the word will make people run away from me. Take care, ross Answer: hey ross, i have to get off the internet now, but i will write you a message tomorrow, ok Answer: hey ross, i have type 1 and found out in june it's september now (4 mths) and i haven't had another outbreak. When i had an ob in june it was very bad and they say that your first ob is the worst but i don't know how long i'd had it so it may not have been my first ob, but my first was barely noticable and this is a second or third ob that is noticable. i don't know if it works like that i'm told that it be unoticable for a long time but anyway my advice to you is if you do have type 1 then i think you can expect to have about 1 or 2 outbreaks a year, if you're lucky you may go years without an outbreak say 3 years and in 10% you will never have another outbreak. 80% of people don't realise they have herpes so it's possible you may have outbreaks and not even know they are happening. this is the good news, the bad news is for the rest of your life there is a chance you will have outbreaks, may be not often, but you will and this is a virus that WANTS to spread so tell every partner you have the risks, DO wear condoms and take suppressive tablets if you want to reduce the risks even more. i wish you the best, jan Answer: p.s don't be afraid of finding a girl because if they love you they will accept your condition it is a virus but it is just a virus that 90% of people have on their lips you just got it somewhere else and someone that loves you will not think of it as end of relationship but a hurdle every now and then......goodluck jan Answer: Thanks Jan. I sure hope I am in the 10% that never have another outbreak. So far mine has been virtually unnoticeable. Guess I am lucky. I am glad you and others feel that way about finding a mate. It seems to make this more palatable to know that there are kind-hearted people that will take their feelings more seriously than this little obstacle. I just hope I can find her someday.
