Can HSV-2 be transmitted during a shower?
Question: I was with a partner (someone i see a few weekends out of a year) over the weekend and we werent able to have normal sex with a condom (as i do EVERY time because of this virus) because i was on my period. he had the great idea to just do it in the shower. thats great but cant use protection then... HE DOESNT KNOW I HAVE HSV-2 and i dont want to tell him! we've done it in the past with protection and he hasnt gotten anything and he gets cold sores so im hoping that he has a kind of immunity to it... :/ there was washing before and after with constant water flow so he should be ok right?!! im taking valtrex every day and i didnt have an apparent break out... its really making me nervous that im gonna get a phone call soon or something... :( any thoughts? Answer: there was washing before and after with constant water flow so he should be ok right?!! im taking valtrex every day and i didnt have an apparent break out... Condoms will not necessarily cover the entire area where you may be contagious unknowingly due to asymptomatic shedding. You are putting him at risk for contracting genital herpes in every one of your sexual encounters. Answer: I was asking about the shower with the constant water flow and washing before and after without a condom involved. that reduces risk right? doesnt give the virus a chance to settle in?
