Bedsheets, Towels and Roommates

Question:
I have just recently caught cold sores. I have a roommate and our beds are two mattresses we put together when we aren't using them and take apart when we are. When we are not using our bedsheets, we put them on our combined beds.

I am very concerned that my cold sores might spread to her through my bedsheets. What should I do?

As an added note, I hang my towel on the laundry rack to dry. Any advice on what I should do?

Answer:
...then take action so you don't feel you are putting your roomate at risk. iI would personally just take precautions with the pillow and certainly your pillow case ...not neccessarily all of your sheets (I assume this/these cold sores are on your face).

Answer:
Yes, they are on my face. But predominately sleep on my back with my sheets over my face. How long does the cold sores virus live on sheets?

Answer:
The virus can only exist for a short time in an oxygenated atmosphere, so they die quickly on exposed surfaces, including sheets and towels. I'd stop worrying if I were you

What a relief?

Answer:
Sorry for double posting but do you have anymore advice on hygiene?

Answer:
Well, it's pretty basic stuff... avoid touching a sore, and wash your hands often, especially when you're having an ob. I always was good about washing my hands a lot (I'm a cook), but since I developed herpes, I've become a bit of a fanatic about it. No need to go off the deep end, though. When you're not experiencing any symptoms, just do what you normally do.
