Help, excrutiating pain!
Question: Hi, I'm newly diagnosed with my first, very surprising OB. At first, it seemed like I had a yeast infection, which I treated with Monostat. A week later, had a lot more sex and it just seemed like we had done too much, I was swollen and irritated. Then I got a high fever for 2 days of 104 (I NEVER run fevers, so that freaked me out) I went to the doctor and said, "oh by the way, I think I have a yeast infection and it doesnt seem to be going away." 5 minutes and several cultures later, I have HSV2. Well, I haven't gotten my results back, but by partner immediately went for a blood test and came back with positive HSV2, 6 weeks after another test that he took which was negative. I am assuming since I seem to have classic text book symtoms that I am positive too. Neither of us has any knowledge of a previous partner with HSV, so we have no idea who gave it to whom or even where to start. Should we go back to previous partners or just move forward? Anyway, my OB is the ABSOLUTE worst. It seemed to get better as I was taking the Acyclovir and using H-Balm. Lesions going away etc. That was week one, now on week two and it seems to be fresh and worse than before. It hurts a hell of alot more and is FAR more itchy. I'm still taking the meds and using the H-Balm, ice packs, cool cloth, black tea bags, oatmeal bath, Vicodine, anything that will provide a moments relief. Is there anything ELSE out there that might help heal this faster? Answer: I've been taking baths in epsom salts. It really seems to clear things up pretty quickly. I also had an incredibly high fever and lots of pain with my first OB.....Ice packs on the area were helpful also. I hope this is helpful. You're already doing everything else I can think of.
