Exercising During an OB?
Question: Got my first OB over 6 months ago. It was major. Since then I've only had smaller ones and have taken Famvir one-day dose. They cleared up well enough. I recently had an OB that I would consider major (just one blister, but a fairly large one). I took the Famvir and in a week that one was gone, but then a couple mornings later, i look down and all his friends came to the party. I exercise "a lot," mostly cycling and running, and am wondering if I spread, or aggravated my OB by continuing to exercise b4 it was completely gone. One thing I have done to minimize spreading during an OB is to wrap my shaft, very loosely with surgical gauze. Can anyone help me on this one. I would really hate to have to stop working out every time I have an OB. :( Thanks. Answer: Since I am not a guy, I know I can't help alot, but I will try to help as best as I can. ;-) I would say that wrapping your penis/shaft might be making matters worse, as it may be adding to the friction. Something even SOFTER might be Better...cotton perhaps? And during an outbreak, wear the softest, least restrictive of underclothing. Boxers perhaps? Also, I would say that DURING an outbreak , perhaps limit your workout to stuff a little more light....low cardio....no bikes, as that is probably rubbing up against your "bizness" down there. Maybe some light weight training...work on the upper body and abs more during that time period??? Try to add as little friction to your nether regions as possible whilst in outbreak mode. Once it is all healed up, then back to the bikes for you mister! hahaha! But seriously, perhaps while having an outbreak , just ease up a bit on the work out. You body is trying to heal itself and fight off the virus so.....eat very well, lite exercise and LOTS of rest. do you take any vitamin supplements? Answer: Also, very very important: heavy exercise decreases your immune function due to the release of stress hormones. You don't want to do this while you have an ob, since your body can't fight off the virus as effectively. Maybe this is why it was spreading. Limit to low-intensity workouts if you can or just take a break. Answer: I lift all the time with OBs cause it seems I always seem to have some small trace of it.
