Dealing with test results at work

Question:
I've been at my current job for almost a year now,a nd I'm known as the bright and smily front desk receptionist. When things when wrong in my life a, and I found out I had Genital Herpes (I'm still in denial, but that a diff. subject) I wasn't so bright and smily. I wasn't easy trying to put on a face at the front desk, to all of 450 employees and all of the customers. I had customers walking in while I had a few tears running down my chick. I played that off as me putting drops in my eyes for my contacts. But there are a handful of people who i work with who just know when soething is wrong no matter how hard I try to act is off. This is something so personal that I didn't want all these proplr to know. I just said things like, I'll be OK, or lied and told them I was having family problems, and/or I was sick. i wasn't feeling pain or irritation of a sore... what I was suffering from was the emotional aspect of finding out I had it. I'm still very emotional about it, and it's hard to keep a smile on, but I'm trying. i think just being able to research will help. the more informed I am about what I 'May' have the better I can deal with it.

Do I sound like I have it together? :) ... I won't lie.. I'm a reck right now.

You will be OK trust me. :-) Chin up girl. You're doing the right thing by reaching out to others. Don't forget to check out the true stories page. I think you'll get alot of wonderful insight from those.

It is difficult holding this inside sometimes. I find the same thing. I do tech support incoming calls, and although customers cannot see me, they can hear the irritation in my voice. Normally I am very happy and enjoy my job, but during an OB I am not very patient. Especially when someone is whining to me about computer problems...I feel like saying "You think THAT'S bad....." lol

It gets easier with time. Although you may feel alone, and like you can't talk about this at work, just remember that you have many people here more than willing to lend an ear.

You may also find the treatment forum helpful. I have learned alot there. I also have had the benefit of having a shoulder to cry on when I was feeling down about H. Keep smiling and take care. Msg me anytime you need to talk :)

Hey Bubbles, I am dealing with the same kind of situation. I was diagnosed but no one at work found out until a doctor went in and told the people I work with. I am a dancer by the way at a very highly respected club in town. He told the other girls and now when I go back to work, I am going to have major problems. Who knows what I'll be dealing with because the girls that know are brutal. I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors. It's only been about 6 days since I found out so I am still coping and have all this added stress on top of it. I have HSV-2 so these girls and bouncers are going to give me hell. It will end up costing me my job, but by advice from my attorney, I have to stay and let them fire me. I hope your situation gets better and remember, keep your head up and there are always people out there that will be there for you and understand your situation. If you need someone to talk to , message me, we'll talk. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Answer:
damn! You know if the doctor told people you worked with about your health, then thats against the law. Well it is here in the states. I would sue his ass for that.

Answer:
Believe me I have already contacted an attorney about it and I probably won't even be able to do anything about it. I also have an attorney for me actually contracting the disease. I am not just suing a person either, it's much bigger than that. Thanks for your input though.

You know it is ok to lie about what is bothering. You only need to be honest those you are dating - not those that you work with. As long as you take care not to infect anyone- why should they know your business. Even if it had nothing to do with Herpes. Just b/c you work with someone does not mean they need to be your best friend...
