HSV1 / 2
Question: What is the main difference between having HSV1 or HSV2 on your genitals? If you have sex with genital herpes type 1, can it turn into type 2 on someone else? I dont get any of this Answer: Hsv-1 is more mild on the genitals if you have sex with someone who has hsv-1 you cannot get hsv-2 and hsv-1 cannot turn into hsv-2. the only way you can get hsv-2 is if the person has that specific type. i dont want to go into more detail because it'll confuse you more.best bet is to research becuase hsv is a very confusing virus....GOOD LUCK :D Answer: Here is a question and answer topic on HSV 1 and HSV 2 which might shed (I know, bad choice of words :D ) additional light on the differences etc. Q. I was told that if you have one HSV that your body is more resistant to the other. Is that true? I will give more details in a personal email if I unclear. A. Are you asking if you can have both hsv1 and hsv2 genitally? If so the answer is yes. The only way to know this though is thru lesion cultures. If you do have both usually it's the hsv2 that causes the most reoccurances though according to research. There is a study that should be coming out soon releasing stats on having both genitally. When it's released I'll try to remember to post it on here. If you are asking about having hsv1 orally and hsv2 genitally, then yes many people do have them both. Having hsv1 orally tends to "take the edge off" so to speak and you are much more likely to have a "milder" genital ob if you acquire hsv2 genitally. It provides little if any protection against acquiring hsv2 genitally though. If you have hsv2 genitally it provides significant protection against acquiring hsv1 orally but not 100%. Having hsv2 genitally provides you with protection against acquiring hsv1 genitally but not 100%. Usually it's hsv1 genitally first and then hsv2 comes later. comment: it's quite common for people to have both HSV and HPV. I have both. My old gyn used to say that HSV and HPV are "traveling companions". Answer: basically I have hsv-1 genitally, i am asking: will i be able to give somone HSV2 if i have sex with them? Answer: No, you will not be able to give someone hsv2 IF you ONLY have hsv1. Answer: .... and if you only have hsv1 genitally, is the risk of passing it on less than if you had hsv2? From what I've heard and read, hsv1 is not as severe as hsv2. Does that mean that it's less contagious? I mean, if I have hsv1 genitally and someone else already has hsv1 orally, I can't really give them the virus if they already have it, right? Only difference if that it's in a different place. Right? or no? Answer: You cant reinfect them orally cause thay already wolud have it but you could reinfect them genitally(through sexual intercourse) and they can infect you orally through kissing Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
