+ Blood test (possible duplicate post)
Question: This may be a duplicate message. I think the first did not go through. Hello. I just got my first HSV blood serology test back positive for HSV-1 and 2. I am shocked because I've never had an outbreak (that I know of). HSV-1 is not surprise becasue I've had canker sores on my lips, mouth and throat occaisionally for many years. I'm a healthcare professional that routinely get HIV and syphyllis test for work and insurance purposes. My MD thinks, by the serology that I've had antibodies for some time. Never have I known to pass HSV-2 to someone. Whether I've had an outbreak or not, I am a carrier at least. I feel terrible and untouchable. Whether I've seen an infection or not, I feel that I'm no different than someone whose had an outbreak. There is no doubt in my mind that I must tell every man I consider being intimate with that I carry HSV-2. I just have to. Can anyone share advice and information with me regarding how you confided your HSV-2 to potential boyfriends. Thanks. Carrie Answer: I'm in your position, never any symptons or outbreaks. I've been seeing someone since July, someone I used to date a few years ago. I've put off seeing him since before Christmas because I knew I had to tell him before any more sex happens. I was dreading it, because I not only had to tell him about this, but I expected him to gross out and never want to touch me again. We went to dinner and I was a stress case! He was really concerned. So, I told him that I've never had outbreaks, never a symptom but antibodies were found. He responded so casually and said that so many people have it and they don't even know, he's never been tested, he could have very well have given it to me. He was so great. It didn't scare him at all, but he will go get tested. I couldn't believe how well that went. I thought that that would be the last time we'd see eachother. It didn't scare him in the least.
