Oh my god!!!

Question:
Okay, I have pretty much come to terms with the fact that I have this god awful disease. I am bitter and would like to see the cheating ex boyfriend suffer...anyway, that's another story.

I need some help. I am in so much frickin pain right now, it's literally brought me close to tears. I don't have the option of calling in sick due to the nature of my job. I am on viatmins and Valtrex, but for some evil reason I have one mammoth sore that is unbearable. Is this normal? To have one large, hard sore that sits for days causing pain? Is it doing anything there besides trying to $%^ up your life?

So for the love of god, what can I do to ease this pain? Please help? Also even when I don't have the mammath sores, I still even w/ the vitamin and valtrex seem to have small ones alll the time. What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks guys for your help. THis is new to me and was only recently diagnosed. This is a great site to come to for some support.

Answer:
So Sorry you are going through such pain. I also had to work through my OB which was so very unconfortable. I don't really know of anything to ease the pain. I'm not sure what kind of vitamins you are taking but I found that taking lysine through my OB made it less severe. I have heard that this does not work for everyone but it is worth trying. I also had one spot that was just horrible and killed me with pain. Luckily I am healed now and praying I don't get anoth OB for a while.
I hope you start to feel better soon.

Answer:
kitty, have you changed your diet at all?? i.e. , cut out things like alcohol and chocolate that tend to bring this stuff on harder.

Answer:
What works for me is to use baby powder, Aveeno hydrocortisone cream, and because sometimes friction causes outbreaks atleast for me I use babywipes instead of toilet paper. I'd suggest trying Ibuprofen or tylenol, also maybe an ice pack.. and for the love of god don't wear a thong! lol.. sorry just had to add that.

Answer:
Thanks guys for the replies. Ya know those donuts that people sit on, supposedly for pregnant women? Well, I think they are really intended for people with Herpes!!! Some guy with herpes was sitting on his sore ass all day and thought up that donut..I just know it.

Anyway, I haven't really changed my diet because I don't really eat a lot of the stuff you mentioned anyway. I am taking ALLLLL of the vitamins they suggest. Lysine, E,B,C and immune boosting stuff.. This is in conjunction to the Valtrex. I still seem to have continual outbreaks. I only seem to get the real severe ones like I have now about once every couple months...but holy shit they are a literal royal pain in the ass!! The rest of the time they are small pimples. Gawwwwd, throw me a bone, I need a break from this shit. Has anyone had better luck with one med over the other. Say that Acyxlyvor..however it's spelled stuff versus the Valtex?

Yeah, I've wondered if wearing the thong is aggravating, but wearing underwear up my butt is also aggravating..lol. I guess I'd rather have that than this..

Please tell me I'm not alone here. Is it really this painful for everyone?

Answer:
yea my first outbreak was 4 months ago and I still have sores right on my anus and I can hardley have a bowel movement at all. I dont know how they are going to heal since I cant stop going to the bathroom and they hurt like crazy and I dont get ANY relief EVER

Answer:
My first OB was terribly painful and I worked through the entire thing.. I didn't know it was herpes and I literally scratched myself raw. It was terrible. lol.. I am laughing now but at the time I was ready to die. Not everyone has painful OB's but a lot of people do (seems mostly women). I guess thats an easy way to figure out who has HSV, just look for any girl that is walking around bowlegged and wincing, hehe. sorry. I really hope that your OB gets better! :D

Answer:
my first OB was the worst. And i too had one sore that would not go away! everything else was finally okay- but that one little sore took forever! I used ice packs a lot, and let myself walk around the house with no underware because it got the most air, and nothing to hurt it. Of course i was bowlegged and wincing still-(lol) but it helped. My doctor gave me Famvir. I thought it worked great! almost immediately i started to see improvement. My problem is that it seems like EVERY time my peroid is coming, i start to see a breakout. I took valtrex last month to stop it from becoming any worse... Now i am about to start again and i see another breakout coming. the bumps always appear in the same place that they were before. am i going to have to take valtrex continually?
