I don't know how to support her. I've had herpes for 10 years and have learned to live with the little devil. WOW! five years and this is the first time she has had an outbreak? I read somewhere that most people pass it on to their partners in the first year. I would just tell her that you are sorry she doesn't feel well and remind her that you are there for her.

It might sound cold but it is not like she didn't know it was a possibility. I think she might be more mad at herself than with you. I would give her, her space and I am sure she will realize that a 5 year relationship is not worth messing up because of herpes. Like mom always said... No use crying over spilt milk.
