AFTER FIRST YEAR
Question: For those who have been living with this for many years is it true that activity seems to decrease after the first year. I was diagnosed in December it is now May...and Im stil not sure when Im having an outbreak. Ive havnt broken out into cold sores down there since the first time but I do feel itchy more often than not. My doc told me I could take suppressive therapy but I wanted to know how my body reacted first. Like after a year of suppressive therapy will my body adjust to the virus. And for those who have few outbreaks is it because they have more antibodies??? Confuses Answer: i know what you mean about being confused. i think i may be having a similar experience. i was diagnosed about 6 months ago, and have not had an obvious outbreak since. i just get some mild itching at times, and i don't know if it's cause by hsv or not. i'm thinking it probably is. when i try to talk to my docs about it, they always trivialize it. they basically have this attitude that i have herpes, it's not the end of the world, i need to learn to live with it. i am always dismissed before my questions are answered. it seems to me that doctors are too busy dealing with life threatening disease like cancer and hiv. while i can certainly appreciate this, i wish they would understand that this is a hard diagnosis to hear too - and i need some information! i have a lifelong, incureable disease, and no, it's not the end of the world, but it is a big deal. anyway, sorry for not being much help on you original question. just wanted to share my experience. Answer: I know it feels like shit. But I would seriously advise you to stay away from suppressive therapy as long as you can. After all, you have not have an outbreak yet. You might never have one. So why start taking those drugs now? Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
