I am afraid
Question: I am currently involved with a guy who previously has been with someone that admittedly has HSV-1 located in the genital region. He has had no outbreaks and is beggining to pursue the issue of becoming intimate. I am afraid to contract it. I had been told by my dr several years ago that the only way to test for HSV-1 was to culture a lesion. Is there any way to find out if he is a carrier of it if he's had no outbreaks? Someone please help, I really care for this man and I want to move further into this relationship. Answer: Welcome! Actually, it depends. If this guy has never had any fever blisters, cold sores, etc, he can get a screening. And if he has any antibodies for the disease, that means he has it, in one form or another (not necessarily genital). A girl i really care about got screened recently for hsv of any kinds, since i have oral hsv-1. She came up fully negative. We've had one date and are scheduling another. Why I bring this up, is sometimes it takes a bigger person than to let something like HSV of any kind derail true feelings. I care about this girl so I didn't give up when she got nervous about it. She cared enough about me to get the tests. If you care about someone, you'll find a way to make it work, and not just shut them out of your life. So maybe you'll have to use condoms, oh no. That's safe anyways. If you love this guy, find a way to make it work. He may have a problem or two, but who's to say he still couldnt be the one? Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
