cracks, bumps on penis
Question: So I guess 3 weeks after my exposure, I started to get small cracking on my penis that was painless. I also had slight burning in my genitals, so I thought, this has to be herpes. Well, I still have little bumps on the bottoms of my penis in clusters and my penis has been really dry and wrinkly the past 5 weeks. Well I went to planned parenthood yesterday and she took a look at the bumps and said they were normal (they haven't really changed in several weeks but are sensitive) but I just couldn't get over the burning and slight discomfort that plagues me. So I booked another trip to a different Planned Parenthood for a second opinion today. This time, after looking at my little red bumps on the corona of my penis and the little bumps on the bottom of my penis and saying its nothing but irritation and some swelling, she took a swab of my penis skin and took a look at it under the microscope. She came in 5 minutes later saying it was just a simple yeast infection and nothing to worry about while giving me some anti-fungal cream. I'm still not convinced this is not herpes. Do these ladies know what they are talking about? I'm sure they've seen it all, but with herpes, how can they really know for sure? Do you think I can stop worrying about this for now and move on with my life? Thanks for listening. Answer: I think you are right to be concerned. It's a shame but in the end, it's our health not theirs and we have to get enough information that satisfies us, not them IMO. I mean after all, if the 2nd person diagnosed a yeast infection that the 1st person missed, how much confidence do you have in any of them? Will the 3rd person diagnose something else? I guess if the antifungal medicine appears effective you have reason to have more confidence in the diagnosis. I just say keep asking and getting as many opinions (needed tests, etc.) as you can afford until you feel some confidence in what they're saying. And you obviously arent overflowing with confidence since you're inquiring here. I havent read it yet to my recollection, but maybe there are males here who had minor yeast infections that they first thought was herpes and maybe they will respond...
