How do you afford Valtrex?

Question:
For those of you who do not have health insurance or benefits, how do you afford daily suppressive therapy with Valtrex?

I am spending $122 every 15 days....this is making me completely poor!

I'm in Canada, BTW.

Answer:
Can you not switch to Acyclovir? It's cheaper for sure as a generic for Zovirax. I take Acyclovir + lysine and it is working really well (better than either alone).

Answer:
Hi Whirlygirl :)
I've just learned I've contracted Herpes and trying to deal with it emotionally. I too am in Alberta.
I have not yet got a precription from the doctor yet,or I should say just for some topical Acyclovir, not for pills like valtrek
Holy crap...that's $$$$$$$
Best wishes for a painless /outbreakless/ life

Answer:
i am lucky in a sense that my insurance covers the costs...but unlucky in a way that valtrex did not work for me. My body got used to it very quickly :?

Hang in there,

Answer:
Here valtrex is 310.00 fpr 30 pills VS. Acyclovir 60.00 for 30 pills. I am getting married in a few weeks. My BF says I need the insurance. I am a diabetic as well.

Answer:
I live in the US and I have been able to get free Valtrex from the company. Its a program called Bridges to Access. Their phone # is 866-728-4368 and the website is bridgestoaccess.gsk.com What you need is an "advocate", a doctor to write the scripts and communicate with Glakso Smith Kline. It goes by your income. Call them and see if you can get on. I have been doing this for 6 months now and the Valtrex comes via mail from Walgreens. I hope it works for you.

Answer:
I have heard over the years that is a very good program to be on if you can qualify!!

Thanks for sharing,

Angela

Also, try going to Planned Parenthood for Acylovir (sp...I am typing fast). I paid about $22 bucks through them for a big ole bottle of it. I keep it on hand just in case I have an OB to help lessen it (the pain and length of time). Otherwise, the only thing I do is take Lysine. This stuff has been a miracle for me. I think my immune system is pretty kick ass, so the only missing ingredient for me was the lysine. I was having really super bad OB's for a while there, and now for the past few months (knock on wood) I haven't. If I feel that "tingling sensation' down there, I take a higher dosage of lysine and it seems to just kick the crap out of the ole Herpes Virus! God, I love vitamins!
