Welcome to www.thanktoday.com !!!

Im dating a girl, who has H...

Question:
Well... we've been seeing each other about 2 months now. And she told me a few weeks ago, that she has the H virus.

I think she made herself sick trying to tell me. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for her.

Obviously I was a bit freaked out at first but I really like this girl alot, so i told her i appreciated her honesty, and that I didn't think it was something that should stop us from enjoying each other's company.

I have researched H, to understand it better, and how to protect myself from it, which this lovely lady is very mindful of.

I guess maybe I should go talk to my GP for advice as well.... but i'd like some advice from people or partners who live with H on a daily basis....

I'm not going to walk away from this girl because of this. She didnt ask for it, she got from an irresponsible partner some years ago and I dont think it's fair to push her away because of something she had no control over.

So, forgive me for being naive... here... this is really all new to me.

Is there risk of getting H, from kissing? Oral sex? Does this mean, we have to use condoms 100% of the time, to completely rule out passing it to me? Are condoms 100% safe? Or is there still risk?

I'd really appreciate your advice and views.

Thanks. :)

Answer:
Nothing is 100% as herpes is carried on more than just the sexual organ... so any area not covered by a condom runs the risk of passing the virus...

my doctor gave my man the option to come in and talk about it... maybe that would be something to consider... otherwise... WebMD has good information as do other sites listed on here...

good luck... and thanks for being an understanding person...

I hope I will meet a man who is as accepting and responsable as you!!It's great that you want to learn as much as you can about herpes to protect yourself.

The question about condoms was answerd by Unbelievable.Condoms are a great idea for safer sex but if the sores (appear) on parts of the body that are not covered by a condom then there is a small risk.Of course sex during an OB is not recomended, mostly b/c it's painfull and you can pass it to your partner more easily that way and also to other parts of your own body.

You can still have oral sex!! :D I'd use condoms and dental dams though just be a little safer. You can get them at drugstores and "sex shops" or even on-line.

I guess it's up to you and your girl if you want to use codoms all the time each and everytime. The risk is pretty low if you do use condoms.

Kissing!! If she has genital herpes than kissing is not a problem at all.If she has oral herpes I'd avoid kissing when there are sores.

Good luck!!
