Is an intimate relationship possible?
Question: I recently found out that I have this. I told my boyfriend immidiately. He is such a sweetheart that he is not mad, he wants to be there for me and still desires me sexually. He is unsure to if he has it though, and asked me to find out more about the disease so that we can continue our relationship as normal as possible. I was wandering if anyone had advice on what kind of sex life is possible and any personal experiences? Thanks. Answer: I wish I could give you advice on this ....I will be curious as to the responses that you get.....I would like to know that answer to this....I wish you the best ..... Answer: Of course a sexual realtionship is possible... just like for people that don't have herpes. This Here.com and herpes.com websites are full of info, so I can only re-iterate so much. But the basic rules are - absolutely NO SEX DURING AN OUTBREAK (even with a condom, just don't do it. You can spread your sores to more sites.. not good.) Between outbreaks it is up to you and your partner if you have unprotected sex or not, but get real informed and clear on it first. If you are with a new friend, you should talk to them about your herpes diagnosis prior to becoming intimate. And hey.. there are other STD's besides herpes, so to me - especially if you are not both monogamous, safe sex is a no brainer. Hope this helps.... come to the Dating & Relating Forum - much more discussion there. s2bh Answer: I contracted herpes from my husbands dried up tiny...almost gone cold sore on his lip (I've said that so many times here i'm sure everyone knows that) almost 5 years ago. We have an active sex life..we dont use protection..he's not infected. We dont have sex while i'm broke out...obviosuly..I dont know how yuo could anyways. If I feel anything at all we dont have actual sex..we may mess around and get thi ngs done but not actual sex. Just use good judgment...this sounds bad but its kinda one of those things where..he might eventually get it and he may never. It's a risk..always a risk. But even if you use protection..it's a risk. So its as matter of getting with someone who understands and willing to accept the risk. Del Answer: Supressive therapy can help prevent spreading. Valtrex had done a study a while ago..saying that if people take suporessive valtrex therapy it can cut back the risk of spreading by something like 75%. Plus using condoms...and nonoxynl 9 does kill the virus. Be aware of when you are going to have an outbreak...if you are unaware...look at it..haha So maybe putting nonoxynkll 9 on the skin around the area that that touches not covered by the condom...daily supressive therapy and condoms. I mean no matter what..there is a risk...so unless you truly feel you love the person and have a future with this person. Why risk it....I have found so many men that don;'t care. It is because they are thinking with 1 head and not the other. They don't realize the risks. I don;t want someone to go through this pain. No one wants to be lonely...but don't ruin someones life. I was wandering if anyone had advice on what kind of sex life is possible and any personal experiences? Thanks. i went thru the same thing in november 04. i found out i had it and told my b/f and he was the same way, u just have to b as careful ass possible not to have sex during an outbreak or when ur having symtoms. Both of u should try and take care of urselves because if one of u is slacking off u guys will just spread it to each other and itll b ob after ob and its not fun cause i went thru it all. Answer: No sex during an outbreak? What exactly IS an outbreak? I don't have lesions or blisters but I know something is definitely different down there. One minute I feel "normal" the next I feel warm with a slight irritation. It goes back and forth like that all day somedays.
