Advice?
Question: I recently found out that I have genital HSV1. I am worried b/c I got into really great relationship several months ago- we have even been talking about getting married! We have had an open and honest relationship up to this point- including our sexual history, and we both thought we were std free. I really can not pinpoint when I may have been infected- only assuming that I was probably infected from one of my prior partners who had oral herpes. What complicates the situation more is that he moved a few months ago to a new state (we have been keeping up the long distance thing until circumstances allow us to be closer) and I am afraid that when i tell him this news he will question my fidelity to him, and maybe not see the future we have been so excited about. I know it is important that I tell him, especially sice we have had unprotected sex in the past. But how do I do this?...the closest I can even get to telling him in person is by doing it over the phone. I don't want to mess this up, and I feel like my scenario is slightly more complicated than a lot of the advice I have been reading on the web. Any Veterans out there with some good advice? Answer: Communication and honesty is the best thing. They say that many people can have the virus and it can lay dormant. You could have gotten years ago. He should be tested as well.
