is there a "post"drome?

Question:
Ok I have a newbie question for everyone. I had my first outbreak (1 small external lesion) last week. Although that spot is gone, I am totally sore-feeling on the inside, like a burning/chafed feeling...but I don't see anything there. I spoke with my doctor today and expressed my concerns about this (among other things, being newly diagnosed) and he said that as the virus recedes back up the nerve, you can have pain/irritation/symptoms in the general area, which essentially seems to me like a "post"drome, for lack of a better term.

Has anyone experienced this? I'm actually hoping that's what it is, but I'm fearing it's the start of a back-to-back outbreak. I never noticed any prodrome last week, and I'm concerned it's what I'm feeling now.

Answer:
Well, I now know that the symptoms I described were prodromal...I found another lesion today, more than a week from the appearance of the first one (which is now gone). Is this part of my first outbreak? Is it a new outbreak? My doctor's office was supposed to call me in a valtrix script but they never did - what great follow-through, huh?
