Has anyone out there been cured Christian faith healing

Question:
Just want to know if anyone has had "hands laid on them" in church and been cured?

I watch television church shows and see people being cured of all types of ailments. What about us?

I got lit up in December of 2004, and it sent me into a suicidal crisis. My life (at 40) was never to be the same. My partner at the time said he was not infected (though I wouldn't bet much $ on his honesty). So, I am perplexted about how I got it. Three days after I had unprotected sex, I had a breakout.

The not knowing has tremendously troubled me. FYI I dated a man with GH back in 1994. In December, 2004, I started a body detrox (no coffee, alcohol, and started exercising, drinking adequate water and taking herbal supplements. I went to the dentist that same month, and was traumatized due to dental phobia. Could these circumstances have possibly activated a 10 year hibernation of this virus?

I have had the worst breakouts imaginable and am getting by on antidepressants, psychotherapy and Valtrex suppressive therapy. However, there is not a day that goes by that I don't fantasize about a cure, and would give my entire life's savings, accomplishments, etc. to get a cure.

Please, someone let me know if anyone of this sounds familiar.
Thanks.

Answer:
While I cannot say much in regards to religion, Your partner who claimed not to have it may very well not know that he does. I'd try to reccommend to him to get tested. Most people don't even know they are infected, and can still pass the virus without an outbreak.

Although it is also possible for the virus to lay dorment as well. If your body goes into a severe "fight or flight" mode, it could very well trigger old symptoms. But to be honest, I think it was most likely the first.

All the same, You just have to remember that your not alone. One in four americans have it, and you have to view it more as a pain-in-the-ass skin condition then anything else. I recieved the virus from my current partner, but it took four years before I got it. While I was upset that gave me it, I was more hurt that it took him that long to even tell me he had it. I had no idea, and your partner might not either.

I had a friend who told me to Just remember, your not broken, or any less desirable than you were before. That really helped. Just try to take a look on the bright side, Things will get better.

Good post Cycle girl...! Well written.

And I agree...sounds like the bloke you were with most recently is the one who gave it to you. TOO coincidental. I have a really hard time with the whole "People can have it and not know' schtick. I think there are very few people who have it and do not know. (asymptomatic). I think there are MORE people who have it and are in denial.

In this case, I think this is a recent occurance. I don't think the bloke who had GH 10 years ago gave this to you. I am very sorry this happened to you.

As for faith healing....well......I don't know. I just do not buy that crap. HOWEVER....mind over matter is a powerful thing, look at something like Voodoo....has nothing to do with ANYTHING other than belief. Same with faith healing.....it is belief. And if one finds solace and comfort in their religion, and if it HELPS put you into a frame of mind that maybe at least will cut down or eliminate on outbreaks...well hey, then I am all for it.

I am not a religious person...I feel religion is the opiate of the masses. (MARX) However, I am a very spiritual person. My church is the ocean, the beach, the forest, rose gardens.....Music is transcendal to me. My childrens happiness and laughter gives me great peace and warmth. I DO believe in a GOD....Probably the same one as everyone else, I just stopped long ago giving my belief a name (jewish, catholic, methodist, baptist....WHATEVER!) I do not live my life by a lie. So I will go to the beach, the woods, wherever, and I always take a moment of solitude to give thanks to my maker for our wonderful world, and apologize for how we are MESSING IT UP so badly! For me, this is healing to ME...I usually feel SO much better afterwards...it can last me for weeks! (never had an outbreak during a vacation ...hmm...wonder why? :D )

But THIS is what gives me inner peace and helps me out.

If you are given inner peace and solitude by finding community in Church, etc., than I say whynot!!?!? It is good for you and it is positive.

I hear SO many stories about the power of prayer and have seen miraculous things happen to people who have had many praying for them. No regard to what their religious creed is....just all types of people praying for someone.....all that good, positive energy MUST go somewhere, right? So...again, if you feel this will give you innerpeace and help you stay strong internally, than YES! Do whatever it takes.

Good luck to you.

Thanks for the words of inspiration. It's really hard to separate the disease from the person, but we must go on. I guess that's why I submitted to magical thinking. What else can we do? I did have the guy tested at the time, and he came up negative. However, I later found out that if blood tests are not done, it cannot be conclsuive. He only got the site tested, which was nearly two weeks old. He claimed to have gotten chase from me being dry - and said he had that before. I just feel bad that he most likely has this virus without knowledge, and continues spreads it.

Thanks again cycle. Maybe we should have a one day fast and pray to our higher being -- maybe our million person plea will make God, Jesus, the universe, etc. respond? What do you think?

Thanks OUCH. Maybe we should have a one day fast and pray to our higher being -- maybe our million person plea will make God, Jesus, the universe, etc. respond? What do you think? A worldwide "Plea for Deliverance (Cure) from our maker day?

WHAT DOES EVERYONE IN THIS FORUM THINK?

Answer:
Let me get this straight (for fun):

You?re saying that if a bunch of people fast for a day and pray real hard because they?re living well enough to join in collective metaphysical prayer over the internet, the gods will hear and help us? Versus, say if you are just one 4 yr-old girl in South Africa who is already hungry and statistically is more likely to be raped and infected w/ HIV than she is likely to learn how to read and you pray alone, the gods aren?t as likely to help you? So it?s the ?marketing campaign? that influences the gods' ultimate dishing out of ?help? and ?deliverance??

Personally, if I even had such a voucher for the ?gods'? help that I could cash in from an air conditioned office on a laptop in a country with more food in its average public trash bin than in an average home of a black South African family, I ideally wouldn?t waste it on my HSV. I would pray for the 4 year old in South Africa?

That's what I think.

Answer:
You know, I thought about this for a while.
I tell folks all the time, I am not a religious person (Organized religion to me is a farfetched JOKE...it is sad really, but hey whatever makes one happy....THAT is a whole different topic, for a theological board) But I am a spiritual person. I pray all the time...for my children, for your children, for the state of the world we live in.....my church is the ocean, the forest, the fields, the mountains, laughter.....

I take a moment each day and say my own meditative thoughts and prayers for everyone of you on this board. We are all in this shitty boat together, and I wish for a vaccine , a CURE (yes, I said cure people!) Something, anything. I wish this disease on NOBODY, not even the worst of criminals (as they are the ones most likely to pass it onto those who do not deserve it, so...yes, I wish for the worst of the world NOT to have this disease).

But, I have to agree with tohealth here...that while I think the idea is a sweet one to have a group "moment" of prayer for those inflicted with herpes...I would MUCH rather take that energy and focus it on the children of Africa with AIDS ....who suffer greatly....or UGANDA children being raped and tortured by the militant, so called government there.

Our government wastes time in Iraq and the middle east, saying it wants to "liberate" the poor Iraqi people....yet what about the poor people of Uganda? Is it because these people do not have anything to "offer" us (ie. OIL...a place in the middle east) that we turn a blind eye to them. They just po' black folks, right?

What about orphaned children, or children of abuse? This makes me CRY...and SO many children, right here in the USofA are abused and killed by their OWN parents....how? Why? OR the women who are abused then killed by their mate.....I pray for them all ....constantly....and wish I was the one who could pull the plug on the asswipes who inflict such violence on those so helpless.

My point is, there are people suffering greater atrocities than we are with our herpes. Herpes sucks. It is vile disease, and it does SO much harm to the emotional and mental state of the individual...there is SO much stigma attached to it, it screws with our psyche...it is very painful for many....but we will (for the most part) live and be ok.

If you want to do a group prayer for children born with neonatal herpes, I am all for it. Those babies ask for nothing but love and to be brought into this world, and when inflicted with this disease, their chance of death is greater, and their life is one of pain and embarrassment. I would pray anytime, anyday for these little darlings. There are people right here, right on this board, who have children who have/had neonatal herpes and I pray for them every night. (meditate, pray, whatever you want to call it. )

I do not think you are wrong in wanting to prayer for relief for those of us inflicted with herpes. it is a sweet idea. But I think you will find that many of us feel the same as TOHEALTH and I do ... that there are WAY bigger issues in the world to collectively pray over. The best you can do is each and every day send out good vibes, thoughts, prayers to others like yourself who have this virus, do it privately, knowing that there ARE many people in the world saying the same sort of prayer as you...and perhaps SOMETHING good will happen.

I pray all the time...for my children, for your children, for the state of the world we live in.....my church is the ocean, the forest, the fields, the mountains, laughter...... I'm not a religious person at all. Personally, I think religion and the church are the most corrupt institutions ever created--more corrupt and lethal than a corporation or even a government, and responsible for more destruction and death than any disease or official war on the planet? Maybe I?ll open up one day and say how I really feel about it (on another board)? My "god" is a conversation about something or nothing with my late grandmother on the porch. The ?holy ghost? is Giacomo Puccini or a field of honeysuckle or Maria Callas singing Wagner...I think I know what you mean?

Answer:
AMEN...says the choir!!!

Ps...read a great book (and I bet you have...if not, get it, I think you will like it)

Holy Blood, Holy Grail.

(Brown, who wrote the Da Vinci Code, used MUCH of the information and theory FROM this book. it will blow your mind away!)

I read this when I was a kid back in 1985, my dad turned me onto it...I use to try to get people to read it and they thought I was evil!

but it is based on some facts as well as some theories. The church hates it. Hence the reason things like the DEAD SEA SCROLLS are kept under lock and key. God forbid the world find out that their religion has been based on LIES....so many lies. It breaks my heart when I think how so many millions have been duped...and how so many millions have died in the name of God and Jesus.

I do not dispute the existence of Jesus; He was probably one of the last, most perfect people on earth; a rabbi here to teach us all. Unfortunately, his legacy has been blasphemed by men with an agenda....

so YES...read holy blood holy grail. I highly recommend it for EVERYONE.

And what does this have to do with herpes. NOTHING. NADA, NICHTS!
But...it might offer some educational insight to certain religions. Take your mind of your sore butts for a moment! :P
