Genital HSV1 sufferers -let's take a poll!
Question: Of course we've all heard that folks infected with HSV-1 in their genitals tend to have fewer and less severe outbreaks. Just wonderinf if this is true. Anyone who has had HSV-1 genitally for a while care to comment? Answer: I've had it for a year and have had three, what I would call pretty bad, outbreaks, the primary, one that came with another infection I had and the last with too much partying. I've had what I think are a couple small ones but it was had to distinguish from general irritation. Hope the next year is better. Answer: I was diagnosed in November 2005 and it was my first OB. I have not had another since then. Keeping my fingers crossed... Answer: I was diagnosed this past spring and have had monthly outbreaks (coinciding with my period) since then (a total of 3 -- this last of which never went away and I think morphed into OB #4). I was relieved at first after a killer initial outbreak, when I learned that HSV-1 supposedly recurred less often and less badly than HSV-2; so far I've NOT had the low-frequency experience! Thankfully, the recurring outbreaks are nowhere near as intense as that first one. Answer: I went to the dr and she said that what I had in my genital area was from beign to dry. that i was cracking from being too dry and havign yeast infection symptoms. I do have H1 oral. But now I am wondering do I have h1 genital too? Does anyone get outbreaks where you have liek a crack or a rip... Kind of like you got cut. Not very deep at all... Last night I was messign with it and i started to bleed a bit. I am confused. My doctor said no. But you never know if they are wrong. And she knows of my oral herpes.. Answer: I had my first OB in January of 2003, and just had my second last week, in September of 2006. I must say I was a bit surprised - I had gone so long it was almost like this bad dream... and then I woke up itchy. My doctor says my case is very mild, and it may be another 4 years before my next OB, so here's hoping ... Answer: haven't had it long...but interested in the results of the poll. I've only had it for six weeks. One ob...the primary ob. hopeful1234 Answer: I went to the dr and she said that what I had in my genital area was from beign to dry. that i was cracking from being too dry and havign yeast infection symptoms. This sounds a bit like my symptoms and I was told by the doctor that it doesn't look like herpes (and to go away and stop worrying!! :? !). Maybe that means I have genital HSV1. I don't get lesions just tingling and irritation and last time I had the flu type symptoms with fleeting lower abdominal pain, tiredness, insomnia, headaches, painful muscles/joints for several weeks. I didn't have any intense pain, just a horrible feeling every now and then as if there are insects trying to get out, also my vulval skin was very dry and paperlike (and tore a couple of times when I was prodding and poking to see if any lesions had formed). This most severe OB was months after when I suspect I was exposed (and has lasted 6 weeks). I didn't have any of the flu type symptoms before this OB, just tingling for a few days and a feeling something wasn't right. I don't understand why I had all these other flu symptoms after already having milder OB's with no aches and pains. I'm assuming that it must be HSV so I'm planning to get a private blood test (dr would not do one). I've read that if you have oral hsv1 you should not have severe genital symptoms as you already have some resistance (esp if you don't get cold sores). As the majority of people contract oral HSV1 as children I'm assuming I have it already. I've stopped drinking alcohol and have ordered some lysine to see if it helps. I don't eat nuts anyway as I have an allergy. Drinking lime flower tea and using pears soap on the area seems to have helped me . There is something really great in pears soap which gives instant relief. How long should you wait to have a blood test after being exposed? I don't want to waste my money on a test only to find out later that I didn't have the antibodies yet....any advice would be great. Answer: i have genital hsv1 and my primary outbreak was the worst. I may have had more but its hard to tell because i get yeast infections very frequently after my period so i could have a minimal outbreak at the same time but hardly ever affects me.
