It would help if I could hear from people who care relate:

I have had some recent outbreaks.. not in my usual genital area, but on the external anus. ! I haven't had a genital outbreak for nearly a year, but twice since then I have had pressure/discomfort in one spot on the anus.. The first time it happened I wondered, "what the...?" Turns out that H has spread to this area. I have been so very careful with hygiene, bathing, toweling, clothing, washing.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

God help that it doesn't appear as cold sores next.. that would really flip me out!

Don't freak out, I am currently facing the same situation. Yeah, it really sux, but I don't think it is nealy as painful as the usual genital outbreak. I have been using DMSO cream on my genital area as followed by "Never an Outbreak" instruction, but failed to include my butt in the application. Well, I guess the cream really does work because I don't have a single solitary blister/ulcer on my previous outbreak area, but like u am now facing inflamed anus. As to yor meticulous hygiene regimen, I am not sure what to tell you. I know my outbreak is due to having butt sex with my current boyfriend who transmitted it to me. My advice, hang in there, drink plenty of water so you don't dehydrate which can promote harder stool, and maybe try the DMSO cream everywhere.

Actually, I find it more irritating and painful because I have had an outbreak on one of the bum ridges (don't know the proper name!). As with the genital area, it's usually just one blister, but man can it be irritating. I've never heard of DMSO cream. Is it effective? I stopped using meds and creams years ago after the outbreaks settled down.

Never had butt sex, so I don't think that's how mine carried.

i did not know i had it and still not sure but a man i started having sex with came up with it and i trust him when he says he only been with me for a while now. He had a very hard time with it for almost a yr and i never was tested because no symtoms. However i did have anaul pain and one small sore on the small of my back and one on the inner check of my butt. Does it break out there? im really upset i could have done this to him but i cant get tested if no signs. Please advis

I don't have any experience with blisters outside the genital region, so I'm not sure about the one on your butt cheek and back. Were they blisters or something else? Might be shingles, but there's usually more than one sore.

Best bet to go to a doctor and get yourself checked out.

i know i should see a dr buttttttttttttttttttt. Same dr i have had for years and really dont want him to know. Any way this is really freaking me out and i dont really want to know. My lover knows he has it and thats good enough for me. I guess I'm scared to know for sure but i know and thats whats hard.

I know it's hard to see your dr, but honestly, he/she probably sees H and stuff all the time. Bite the bullet and take care of your health! You deserve it. When I told my dr she was quite cool about it. In fact, all of hte other doctors I saw were cool, too.

It's hard to hear the truth, but in the end, it's your body.

I have also had blisters spread to my butt. They don't appear that often. Thank god! I dunno why they shifted.

Yes , as far as the info i have gotten, they can spread to but cheeks, backs etc...

as for testing with no signs, and not wanting to tell your doctor. Just go to a clinic and tell the doctor ( whom is a stranger and you NEVER have to see again) that you may have H but have no outbreaks. They will give you a slip to go to a lab to get a blood test. it takes a couple minutes, they take a small sample of blood and you will be called through the doctor at your clinic, It takes about 2 weeks to get the result for a test done this way, but it is very acurate.
When you say that you don't want to know, and that if he knows then that is all you care about. Well you need to find out for yourself or you will ALWAYS wonder. You will stress yourself needlessly , but once you know your mind can begin to deal with it. and if you have no OB's then lucky you. you will be one of the few who never have an OB but will be aware so you never pass it on again unknowingly.
