i recently had sex

Question:
with a gay man, who had a cold sore but told me it was ok. i did not go down on him, rather he went down on me. it felt good, and things ended quick. later on through a mutual friend i come to find out he has hiv.

am i going to die?

Answer:
you need to go to a doc... cold sore + oral sex = herpes...

so you have a compound worry...

as for if you are going to die... need to get diagnosed first to see if you contracted anything... HIV/AIDS aren't the life sentence they use to be... so many medications to prolong life... just get to a doc and find out your status... it is a good time to get tested for everything... make sure you ask for the HIV and Herpes tests...

Answer:
It is possible to get herpes/coldsores from oral sex being performed on you. As for HIV/AIDS, sometims it can take a while for the virus to show up. Usually around 6months. Wait and then have a blood test. And from now on I would say abstain from sex for a while until you know your status. If you DO have sex, practice safe.

I can't believe in this day and age, and especially for those in the gay community, which has been utterly decimated by hiv/aids, that I have to remind people to practice safe sex. This saddens me to no end. :(

I have lost so many friends to the AIDS virus. SO SO SO MANY. Men and women. Gay and straight. I hope that all works out well for you Carlito.

Answer:
well, i noticed something on his lip, and me never having full contact with a men before, made me stop and think about it for a sec.

but i remember a girl told me once that if it's not bleeding or there is no puss coming out i'd be ok.

the experoence was magical, not to sit here and laugh but better than from any girl i have ever had.

but now i am freaked out, i have red bumps on my mushroom.

can it be the detergant i use when i wash my briefs?

Answer:
cold sores are most active when they are blistery or pus-y....hence you are more likely to get it then, but they are contagious at any time until the scab falls off on its own and is gone. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I would rather you were informed than have people tell you half truths, ya know?!?

I would never laugh at someone's happiness or thrill in their sexual experience. We are loving, sensual, sexual creatures. Human contact is SO important, even sometimes on the most base level.

Unfortunately we live in a time where Diseases run rampant, so we must be extra careful and cautious when we do have sex with another person. I would say go to your doctor or local health clinic and have them check you out as soon as possible. They could help you the best.

It could be herpes, but it could be other things as well. like irritation due to detergent, jock itch...something. best to let a doctor tell you what it is though.
