asymptomatic shedding

Question:
Hi
I'm clean but Partner on suppressive, no outbreak. mark on buttock where June (2nd) outbreak happened. Apparently there was a first outbreak in March but was misdiagnosed and the 2nd one was actually worse.

Do I need to worry about shedding all over the "boxer area" or just the area of the old outbreaks?

long term perspective, it's a concern whether I am limited to, for example, /missionary no condom no boxers/ or /missionary condom boxers/since there weren't any previous outbreaks around the vagina.

But if from behind would wear boxers and condom out of concern for skin chafing between buttocks and my thigs?

Any info is appreciated.

Answer:
yeah thats a good question, i been thinkin about that for a few days too...

when you 'shed' do you shed thru fluids or in the urethra or is it all over the place? can i be shedding thru the skin on my legs? if so then condoms are really hit and miss eh?

Answer:
Rodgerdoger - we're 'all clean', or at least I am - big on hygiene but still have herpes - how can that be!!!

Answer:
soooo... ?

Answer:
you can shed in multiple areas........if youve had it on your leg but never seen it again there....yes, you can shed from there still. A condom will help if it covers the area where you get outbreaks but nowhere else.

Do I need to worry about shedding all over her "boxer area" or just the area of her old outbreaks, both on the same exact small spot area (big as quarter) on her buttock?

A condom will help if it covers the area where you get outbreaks but nowhere else. Still a bit confused as to shedding...do you only asymptomatically shed from the area that you have outbreaks? If a person only has experienced obs on the left side of their labia, could they shed the virus from the right side? Does that even make sense?...

Answer:
you sound like you know alot of the information....i am a 'carrier' since i have never had an outbreak. BUT according to the expensive blood test i had done after my bf and i broke up so i could move on w/ a clean bill of health, i'm shedding at a high rate. this made me start taking valtrex daily. while we're talking about valtrex....is there any discounted sites or free samples i can get anywhere? back to my original question....i have been sexually inactive since the diagnosis, well, mostly, but the question is: will it ever not be risky for a man to go down on me? is that part of my life over??
