He is currently having an outbreak but it's nearly cleared up. Could having sex cause another outbreak in me?

I think you should be fine since you're antibodies are built up and should fend it off. I don't think it would trigger anything in your body but it's possible I guess. If you feel paranoid about it just make him throw a condom on and a pair of boxers. Sounds weird I know, but will cut off any access the virus has to your skin.
