Question on OBs

Question:
Hi - I'm new to this forum, and so glad that it is here!

Just a little background on me - I was diagnosed in 2002 with GH and had been taking Valtrex everyday since then. I am not able to take that medication or anything like it as my kidneys and liver started to shut down due to the length of me taking this drug. I can't even take it during an OB and this is per my doctor. Now, onto the question portion

I was wondering if anyone gets extremely nauseous during an OB. I get them quite often now that I'm unable to take the medication and they are in different spots (I get about 2 OB a month now). I'm aware of Lysine and really need to go get some, but is there any alternative that anyone knows about? I also have really chapped lips even though I only have H on my genitals and I get really bad acne on my neck and chin right before and during. Anyone have similar experiences?

The doctors that I've been to seem to know very little about H, so I wonder how everyone copes with that and if anyone knows of a specialist in the New York area, I'd love to know as well.

Oh, last one (for now) does anyone get really emotional/stressed during OB?

I look forward to hearing back!

Answer:
I was diagnosed w/gh in 1991 and never took medication.
I do not get nausea during an o/b, I do not get emotional or stressed during an o/b, I just got oral herpes in 06.

I got some info. for you on long term effects on Lysine:

Long-term Risks

Extended use of lysine has recently raised some severe health concerns. Although long-term use of lysine supplements may help to reduce the rate of outbreak recurrence, it may not be a safe treatment. At least one person taking 3000mg of Lysine daily for five years developed Fanconi's syndrome, a severe kidney disease that leads to renal failure. Even short-term use over a period of several days can cause abdominal pain and diarrhea. All people, especially those with kidney problems, should be heed lysine supplements with great caution. Further studies on lysine safety are warranted.
